PURPOSE AND ROLE:


Under the direction of the Human Resources Manager, Calumet Shreveport Refinery, the role of the Human Resources Generalist is to direct all aspects of the people function in accordance with strategic goals of the division.

The Human Resources Generalist provides expert HR consultation and support to Managers and Business Leaders in the Shreveport, LA Refinery. Uses knowledge of various human resources functions including staffing, compensation, benefits, training, employee and labor relations to provide tactical support and make the business more effective.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Act as primary HR contact for employees and managers at the Shreveport Refinery
  • Consults with business unit management in the strategic planning process and development of human resources strategies that support the unit's business needs
  • Support the development of performance management, succession planning, and talent management processes
  • Work with talent acquisition team to ensure we are building a strong talent pipeline
  • Work with the compensation team to assist in the development of processes for salary and bonus administration
  • Leads management team through employee related issues, conflict resolution and related change management
  • Works closely with the HR Manager and Director to ensure the Calumet Values are instilled throughout the organization
  • Interprets and communicates company Human Resources policies to Managers and Employees
  • Manages the analysis, maintenance, and communication of records required by law or local governing bodies, or other departments in the organization
  • Ensures consistent discipline practices and legal compliance.Provide management guidance on HR laws and regulations
  • Advises and coaches management regarding company policy, legal requirements, and the appropriate resolution of employee relations issues
  • Ensures EEO regulations are adhered to
  • Responsible for employee engagement activities within areas of responsibility

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Human Resources
  • Minimum of 5 years Human Resources experience

POSITION PREFERENCE:

  • Professional Human Resources certification
  • Strong working knowledge of related federal and state regulations
  • Project Management experience
  • Experience with compensation; talent acquisition; onboarding; performance management and talent development processes
  • Prior Dayforce HCM experience a plus
  • Self-motivated and detailed-oriented
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills to effectively work with individuals both inside and outside the company
  • Fosters positive work relationships and is a solid team player
  • Able to complete projects in a timely manner and get results
  • Supports the strategic and operational direction of the business

NECESSARY ATTRIBUTES:

  • Prior experience with MS Office, including Word and Excel required
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills to effectively work with individuals both inside and outside the company
  • Fosters positive work relationships and is a solid team player
  • Able to complete projects in a timely manner and get results
  • Supports the strategic and operational direction of the business
