Summary

My client is looking for excellent background in data-driven analysis and an understanding of the media marketplace, including digital and print media, and in applying credit and collection practices to new products and lines of business. This individual must have experience working with agencies and marketers, and in ad sales including programmatic advertising and with Ad Tech providers such as DSP's and SSP's.

Description

  • Oversee credit management for print and digital media sales and for all other NYT products
  • Work with NYT Sales Departments, ensuring the credit review of new customers; communicate credit decisions
  • Make regular contact with high value and high-risk agencies and advertisers to ensure all relevant credit lines are managed
  • Resolve credit issues with customers, and if necessary, negotiate new payment terms to ensure transactions are secured
  • Help financial leadership assess company exposure and collection risk.
  • Establish processes to identify changes in payment patterns that incorporate action to avert indebtedness. Advise in the proposed write off of un-recoverable receivables.
  • For customers who stop paying, work with all departments to stop providing services and with outside counsel to start legal action to collect the money owed
  • In the case of bankruptcy, work with legal to maximize recoveries
  • Monitor industry trends, and stay up-to-date with business impacts on high exposure advertisers
  • Maintain written policy documentation related to the credit and collection processes. Ensure that all transactions are compliant with Company's policies
  • Periodically benchmark policies in relation to industry practice and market conditions
  • Initiate process improvement and quality reviews to simplify and improve credit and collection productivity
  • Help maintain proper credit control systems for all sales, including new products and lines of business
  • Maintain NYT accounts receivable metrics to best practices.
  • Educate all partners on the importance of payment terms and collections, and enhance the escalation processes for proposed policy exceptions
  • Provide ad-hoc reporting and work on special projects, as requested by management

Profile

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 8+ years combined work experience in credit and collections and order-to-cash (OTC) processes
  • Experience using accounts receivable (A/R) and OTC software
  • Experience working with agencies and marketers, and in print and digital media sales including programmatic advertising and with Ad Tech providers such as DSP's and SSP's.
  • Applied understanding of lending procedures and of state laws governing the collection of debt and the laws as mandated by the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act
  • Strength in data-driven analysis and in working in financial spreadsheets (can maintain complex spreadsheets)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent negotiation skill
