Expert Partner, Physician and Ambulatory Strategy, Advisory Board Research

Expert Partners have an exciting role as one of the firm’s market-facing subject matter experts helping Advisory Board achieve its goal to spark the change needed to make health care better. The primary role of the Physician and Ambulatory Strategy Expert Partner will be to scope and deliver presentations and facilitated discussions to leaders across the health care industry on current Advisory Board research on the physician and ambulatory landscape and priorities; provide thought leadership to clients in a variety of health care sectors on current trends; and help them navigate, understand, and maximize our research and applied learning products. This Expert Partner will also have the opportunity to support other key markets based on member demand and Research priorities.

To accomplish this, this individual will have the support of the Advisory Board research team and other Expert Partners to share best practices for presentation and facilitation, provide guidance and support, and brainstorm innovative approaches. Furthermore, Expert Partners work closely with researchers from across the firm to continue building expertise from ongoing research projects and contributing to research initiatives.

This individual must possess solid presentation and facilitation skills for both prepared and extemporaneous interactions. They will also provide feedback to colleagues on voice of the customer and insights gathered from interactions with the market to inform research initiatives.

Additionally, this individual should bring experience in physician strategy and network development, and the ability to shape Advisory Board’s market-facing presence in this area such as through short-form articles, participation in panels and industry events, and networking with industry thought leaders.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Scope and deliver high-impact learning experiences for health care executives through virtual and live delivery formats: Share Advisory Board research and insights with client audiences in a variety of delivery formats (e.g., presentations, small interactive roundtable discussions, facilitated workshops, Advisory Board and industry-hosted events)
  • Build and maintain subject matter expertise in physician and ambulatory strategy: Stay up to date on Advisory Board research and broader market trends and be able to provide thought partnership and points-of-view directly to clients
  • Translate research to other health care stakeholders: Help translate how implications on the physician and ambulatory market impact other health care stakeholders, such as life sciences companies, purchasers, and cross-industry partnerships
  • Collaborate with the research team to provide feedback from the market and participate in research initiatives: Provide regular feedback to the research teams from market interactions to help inform ongoing research; participate in key milestones in the research process to contribute market expertise; support research deliverables
  • Develop a market-facing presence: Help contribute to Advisory Board’s brand and market-facing presence as a thought leader in this area, such as through writing short-form articles, developing relationships with key vendors and thought leaders, and representing the firm in panels and industry events

Required Qualifications:        

  • 5+ years of relevant experience in the health care industry
  • Experience and comfort presenting to and interacting with executive and physician audiences, including facilitating discussions and interactive exercises to achieve strategic goals
  • Experience using project management skills in a professional setting
  • Ability to travel domestically up to 50% (as deemed safe and aligned with current COVID-19 travel guidelines)
  • Full COVID-19 vaccination is an essential job function of this role. Candidates located in states that mandate COVID-19 booster doses must also comply with those state requirements. Preferred Qualifications:        

  • Bachelor’s or advanced degree related to healthcare (e.g., MPH, MHA, MBA)
  • Experience building relationships with health care thought leaders, vendors, and/or venture capital
  • Experience delivering strategic advice in a consultative role, including thought leadership and insight generation

Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada Residents Only: The salary/hourly range for Colorado residents is $97,300 to $176,900. The salary/hourly range for Connecticut/Nevada residents is $97,300 to $176,900. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
