Reporting directly to the Vice President of Consumer Engagement, the Director of Marketing and Communications manages WellStar’s complete brand image in our Southwest area based at LaGrange Hospital covering Spalding and Sylvan Grove and West Georgia hospitals, including external and internal communications, with the assistance of a team that is structured like a small marketing agency. The Director must thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment and liaison often with the executive leadership of their geographic region and corporate executives to manage the regional brand image, including any hospitals, medical offices, health parks or other WellStar Health System entities. The Director builds annual plans and serves as the lead executive responsible for all integrated marketing solutions. Duties and Responsibilities: 1. With the internal brand and strategy team, create annual marketing plans and budgets, including geographyspecific objectives. 2. Lead the internal team in the corporate office that implements the annual plan within assigned geographies. 3. Provide counsel regarding communications and marketing best practices to local executives and participate in system-wide strategy discussions. 4. Be the local expert on our target audience, including how they live and how business is conducted within the geographic area. 5. Understand all media vehicles that cover the geographic area and build a close working relationship with both reporters and media business executives. 6. Keep abreast of local competition by maintaining detailed files of competitive advertising, stories in the press, signage and community engagement strategies. 7. Work with the internal brand strategy team to understand creative briefs and encourage work that is on strategy, time and budget. 8. Work with the internal communications team to carry out provider communication initiatives, events, and other internal communications initiatives that will ensure all WellStar team members are aligned with corporate strategy. 9. Alert the internal marketing team to any business issues in the geography, including need to increase patientbase. 10. Working with the internal marketing team, manage the look and feel of WellStar content, ensuring that branding, images and ideas are fresh and interesting and remain in the brand tone and guidelines. 11. Along with the internal marketing team, lead meetings with local clients in the region, listen to feedback, and produce final concepts based on a combination of local needs and WellStar brand image. 12. Stay abreast of current design trends and medical marketing best practices. 13. Provide direction to local outside agencies or freelancers that work on any WellStar marketing materials. 14. Perform other duties as assigned to carry out the mission of WellStar Health System

Required Minimum Education: Bachelor’s Degree in communications, marketing or related field. Master’s degree preferred.

Required Minimum Licensure/Certification: None.

Required Minimum Experience: Six years of experience in integrated marketing and two years of experience leading other team members. Must have managed off-site resources such as freelancers or agencies for at least two years.

Required Minimum Skills: Ability to produce marketing plans using the Microsoft suite of software. Ability to lead meetings and work with geographically dispersed teams.
