Senior Grants Accountant - Wonderful Nonprofit in DC
About the Company and Opportunity:
Our client is a long standing and highly respected nonprofit who are looking for a temporary Sr. Grants Accountant to start ASAP. This resource would be filling in for someone on an indefinite basis, possible temp to hire. This person would need to provide their own laptop. Grant experience is necessary.
Sr. Grants Accountant (working 100% remote until Sept.) degree or related experience, minimum 3 years nonprofit experience, federal grants experience (familiarity with OMB circulars), reconciliation of large amounts of financial data, financial or A133 audit experience. MIP Accounting software preferred. Advanced Excel (pivot tables, macros).
Pay is $28 an hour.
Overview of the Senior Grants Accountant role:
Generate financial reports for government and private grants and contracts.
Create invoices and perform drawdowns for government and private awards.
Prepare, review, and process journal entries related to sponsored projects.
Monitor subrecipients to ensure they are being good stewards of pass-through funding.
Perform monthly reconciliations and revenue recognition for awarded programs.
Track and analyze budgets and expenses on internal projects.
Establish that internal control procedures to allocate allowable expenses to projects are being followed.
Complete monthly cash on hand analysis for awards.
Review employee labor expenses on projects for accuracy and allowability.
Assist with OMB Uniform Guidance Single Audits
Generate invoices and financial reports for the awarded contracts and grants.
Setup new contracts and grants in the financial system.
Close expired grants and contracts out of the financial system.
Provide customer support for vendors in a thorough, efficient, and professional manner.
Ensure contracts and grants comply with OMB Uniform Guidance regulations.
Preferred Qualifications for the Senior Grants Accountant:
Minimum 3 years nonprofit experience,
Federal grants experience (familiarity with OMB circulars),
Reconciliation of large amounts of financial data,
Financial or A133 audit experience,
MIP Accounting software preferred.

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related degree
