Job Description

The GBS Manager USA reports into the Regional Delivery Leader Americas and manages the local delivery teams. He/she is responsible for successfully building the GBS location in Nashville, TN. This includes all aspects of building and managing the center while meeting operational requirements in an efficient, cost effective way and maintaining compliance with all regulations and legislation. The GBS Manager USA continuously keeps the GBS strategic vision in mind.
Key Area 1: People Management, Team work
  • Management of local delivery teams in USA.
  • Acts as the partner in the center by ensuring the effective and efficient operations of the GBS activities
  • Build an engaged workforce and creates an environment that is a great place to work
  • Maintains an effective HR-policy within the location in line with AkzoNobel’s values and code of conduct.
  • Creates optimal conditions for the end to end processes to perform and ensures that the location has a clear organizational, reporting and communication structure which makes optimal use of available know-how.
 
Key Area 2: Deliver strategy and value plans
  • Prepare and deliver within operating and capital budgets
  • Is responsible for the execution and realization of investment projects
  • Deploys the GBS transformation strategy by liaising between GBS and stakeholders/customers in the region
  • Implement management systems that optimize center efficiency and encourage continuous improvement in all areas of the operation.
  • Ensure training and exchange of operational best practices with other locations

Key Area 3: Other

  • Own and manage the Nashville center on behalf of GBS: act as center manager for local and regional authorities and institutes relevant to the organization
  • Represent GBS locally with third party vendors and AN country platforms 
  • Support both internal and external audits
  • Fulfill statutory requirements on behalf of the Nashville legal entity, if applicable.
  • Act in the change network as change agent by ensuring key messages ad progress are cascaded in the organization via the leadership and (local) feedback gets back to GBS global.

Job Requirements

  • A Bachelor or Master’s degree is required
  • Requires a minimum of 10 years’ experience in shared services environment and relevant experience required in building shared service organizations.
  • Proven ability to work within a cross regional, functional, multicultural and virtual context(matrix organization).
  • Broad understanding of functions(e.g.IM), processes and services
  • Focused drive for results, emotional intelligence, trusted influence, conceptual thinking and process thinking are essential. Change management, coaching & mentoring, communication, negotiation, and problem solving skills are also key leadership skills necessary for the role.
  • Fluency in English and Spanish preferred.
