Quality Control Chemist: Aurora, NE

BRANDT CONSOLIDATED INC Fort Wayne, IN (Onsite) Full-Time

The Quality Control Chemist is responsible for performing a broad range of quality assurance testing of chemicals in our Aurora, Nebraska laboratory. This position is using specific methods and techniques to ensure the standards set forth are met. The Quality Control Chemist is conducting research that results in the development of agricultural products.

The Quality Control Chemist will report to the Lab Manager of BRANDT Discovery and Innovation at the Pleasant Plains facility.



Essential Functions

  • Assist in instrument calibration.
  • Maintain a lab book and related databases.
  • Conduct testing of samples to ensure Quality Control.
  • Troubleshoot/test specific batches to assist in determining the root cause of off-spec product and make recommendations for ingredient adjustments to meet required specifications.
  • Enter quality control data in software programs.
  • Analyze data and provide teams with updates.
  • Work with the team to troubleshoot manufacturing issues.
  • Provide quality control supporting information to the Regulatory Team.
  • Perform maintenance and calibrations of laboratory instruments/equipment.
  • Assist in preparing data for publications.
  • Strong public speaking and presentation skills. Experience with presenting technical product information to sales groups for training purposes and to key distribution partners.


Required Education and Experience

  • A B.S. with 4 years’ experience or M.S. in Chemistry. Background in agriculture is a plus.
  • Experience and working knowledge of analytical methods (including wet chemical procedures, ICP, HPLC and Nitrogen Analyzer) is required.
  • Practical experience in the formulation development of agrochemicals including adjuvants, fertilizers, and micronutrients.
  • This position requires self-motivation, strong customer orientation, good interpersonal and communications skills, and an ability to work effectively in a team-based environment.
  • Knowledge of quality guidelines and statistical methods is a plus.
  • Intermediate computer and software skills required including knowledge of Word, Excel, and Outlook and the ability and willingness to learn new software applications.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.

Supervisory Responsibility: Not applicable to this position.

Travel: This position requires minimal travel, may need to travel to the Corporate Office for meetings.

Classification/Expected Hours of Employment: This position is a full-time position and is exempt from minimum wage and overtime pay requirements under federal and all applicable state or local laws. Days and hours of work are generally Monday through Friday but may be based on seasonal needs.
