Manager Ingredient Optimization

  • Maximize Food Utilization in Blue Apron operations through a multi-tactical effort to build out enhanced receiving, inventory, portioning, and resource recovery processes.

  • Oversee implementation and execution of strategic Food Utilization project, including managing 6 staff members covering 2 new key functions.

  • Deliver weekly reports on food utilization, volume and cost of waste, donations, farmers market distribution, animal feed, and compost.

  • Record, analyze, and report on progress toward food utilization and cost savings goals.

  • Create and present compelling, evidence-based, written and visual summaries of your analysis for both internal and external audiences.

  • Regularly benchmark our performance and progress towards goals in terms of pounds and dollars.

  • Develop secondary market partnerships and manage secondary market sales to reach a revenue goal of $500M in 2019.


  • Bachelor's degree required, Masters is preferred

  • 3-5 years experience in a sustainability-related field that required analytical abilities

  • Willingness to spend at minimum 50% of time in facilities and on the floor to provide managerial and physical support to team auditors and associates

  • Demonstrated experience in cross-functional team work,plus managing to and delivering on cost savings targets

  • Experience managing a team

  • Experience conducting in-depth research projects, including uncovering and critically evaluating primary data

  • Intellectually curious with a passion for digging into data, uncovering information, and developing new insights

  • Highly analytical with a keen attention to detail

  • Data summary experience: i.e. statistical analysis of complex data, financial analysis

  • Ability to build strong collaborative relationships across diverse teams

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to clearly distill and effectively communicate complex information

  • Ability to be flexible and adaptable in a fluid startup environment

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and strong Excel knowledge and skills required
