1-800 WATER DAMAGE of Southeast Michigan Jasper, AL (Onsite) Full-Time

Ridgeview and Ridgewood Health Services are 148 and 98 bed facilities respectively, which offer both short and long-term care for our residents. Support services are tailored to meet the individual needs of our residents and strive to improve the quality of life of each resident.

GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION

The Nursing Supervisor is responsible for the total care of residents on a designated shift and directly responsible for managing nursing staff, overseeing resident care, and maintaining compliance with policies and procedures in the facility.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Perform admissions, discharges, transfers and re-admissions to facility.
  2. Admissions arriving prior to the end of your shift are to be completed before leaving, including the RN assessment.
  3. Promote resident care by developing day-to-day administration and long-term planning, guiding and developing staff, and collaborating with physicians and clinical staff to ensure that each resident is receiving the best care and service.
  4. Complete Resident Roster and Resident Status/Condition Report and turn into DON each Tuesday.
  5. Complete Dietary Recommendation Report and return to DON within one week of receipt.
  6. Complete Pharmacy report and return to DON within two weeks of receipt.
  7. Check and report lab values to physicians and file to chart.
  8. Assist with weight loss recommendations and special needs meetings.
  9. Ensure snacks are passed.
  10. Make rounds with physicians as needed.
  11. Perform in-service and employee training as needed.
  12. Turn in monthly QA on first Wednesday of each month.
  13. Assist with lunch meal on your assigned QA team.
  14. Complete weekly QA rounds.
  15. Follow-up to ensure RNs/LPNs are performing essential job duties, supervising CNA's completing orders and are in compliance with med pass.
  16. Carry out all orders received to completion.
  17. Write orders.
  18. Fax orders to pharmacy.
  19. Transcribe to MAR.
  20. Notify responsible parties as needed.
  21. Prepare 24-hour report.
  22. Give complete shift report to oncoming supervisor.
  23. Make a complete set of compliance rounds on the halls at least once per shift.
  24. Observe monthly medication pass on RNs/LPN's making a random selection.
  25. Assist LPN staff with emergency and acute resident episodes, as well as staffing supervising needs.
  26. Act as liaison with resident families and sponsors.
  27. Monitor for safety issues and accident prevention.
  28. Observe and direct staff in Infection Control issues and compliance.
  29. Provide behavior monitoring and intervention with residents.
  30. Notify DON and/or Administrator of issues requiring their assistance such as accidents, reports of alleged abuse, inadequate staffing, problem with employee's families etc.
  31. Demonstrate professionalism and a supervisory role model.
  32. Ensure resident care is being performed to facility standards such as bathing, grooming, positioning incontinence care, catheter care, etc.
  33. Monitor response to call lights.
  34. Coordinate emergency response to fire, disaster, weather, etc.
  35. Monitor employees for proper use of body mechanics.
  36. Complete employee accident reports and follow procedure.
  37. Monitor med rooms for cleanliness, compliance, and that doors are locked.
  38. Perform staffing duties as assigned and needed.
  39. Complete QA monthly assignments.
  40. Participate in the development, maintenance, and implementation of the facility's QAPI program for the nursing service department.
  41. Carry out QAPI roles and responsibilities as assigned.
  42. Look for and share with leadership ideas for improvement in the organization.
  43. Perform specialized clinical services as required such as IV therapy, management of CVL, venipuncture, CPR, etc.
  44. Maintain acceptable attendance and punctuality.
  45. Follows code of ethics in procurement, handling of confidential information, and personal conduct. Maintain the confidentiality of all resident information including protected health care information.
  46. Monitor for staff knocking on doors, utilizing privacy curtains, demonstrating respect by correct name use. Maintain and preserve Resident's Rights and dignity.
  47. Monitor soiled and clean utility rooms.
  48. Ensure hallways are clear and without clutter.
  49. Ensure meal service is performed without problems and that all residents are assisted as needed. Any resident consuming < 50% is offered a substitute for meal.
  50. Complete PA forms as needed.
  51. Participates in continuing education and in-services, relevant to job description and LTC, to ensure skills and abilities are maintained and enhanced.
  52. Perform all other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE JOB

Education:

Must possess a current Alabama license as a Registered Nurse and graduated from an accredited school of nursing.

Experience:

Two years of professional nursing experience in the long-term care setting is required.

  1. Must possess and demonstrate leadership, organizational ability, and communication skills.
  2. Clean and concise communication skills for interaction with all customers.
  3. Ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and general public.
  4. Proficient in management skills.
  5. Attend trainings to build understanding and capacity to undertake QAPI work.
  6. Must be knowledgeable of nursing and medical practices and procedures, as well as laws, regulations, and guidelines that pertain to nursing care and long-term care.
  7. Must possess leadership and supervisory ability and willingness to work harmoniously with and supervise personnel.
  8. Current CPR certification is preferred.
  9. Computer skills, including the use of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  10. Data analysis and analytical skills.
  11. Positive team-building approach to problem solving.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS

  1. Works throughout the facility.
  2. Works in office area as well as throughout the facility.
  3. Is subject to frequent interruptions.
  4. Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday.
  5. Must be able to speak and write the English language in an understandable manner.
  6. Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.
  7. Must possess sight/hearing senses or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately so that the requirements of this position can be fully met.
  8. Must function independently and have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with the residents, personnel, and support agencies.
  9. Must meet the general health requirements set forth by the policies of the facility, which include a medical and physical exam.
  10. Must be able to relate to and work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and at times hostile people within the facility.
  11. Must be able to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of 25 pounds to a minimum height of 5 feet and be able to push, pull, move, and/or carry such weight a minimum of 50 feet.
  12. May be necessary to assist in the evacuation of residents during emergency situations.
