Waste Water Treatment Operator
Full time position available in the greater Indianapolis area for a Waste Water Treatment Operator.
Advancement opportunities for an experience Operator with good customer service skills to service multiple customers in the greater Indianapolis area. The focus in this position is almost exclusively on the actual operation of the treatment process. There can be advancement opportunities as a project manager to consult on wastewater treatment.
Nature of Work
Operate, monitor, maintain and trouble-shoot the wastewater treatment facility and its processes. Work involves responsibility for the technical aspects of plant operations, compliance with state and federal operating regulations and underground sewer system. The performance of the work is with considerable independence under the direction of the Operator of Charge and / project manager, subject to review through reports and results achieved.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Perform all aspects of sampling, monitoring and testing required to maintain compliance with Federal, State and Local regulations governing the wastewater treatment process and storm water and sludge management.
Perform all work in conformance to Occupational Safety and Health Act regulations.
Maintain open communications with plant production and maintenance regarding the treatment process operation and malfunctions, as well as make recommendations for repairs and improvements to the systems.
Able to perform and document various tests required by State and Federal agencies for the operation of a wastewater treatment plant.
Perform daily checks of the wastewater treatment process and periodic checks of transfer and chemical feed pumps.
Have a working knowledge of the operation, methods and procedures of the wastewater treatment plant. Have a good understanding of the various sources of waste and the processes generating it which makeup the untreated wastewater.
Have a basic knowledge of State and Federal rules governing wastewater discharges and workers’ safety.
Have the ability to work with independence and to make routine decisions on the operation of the plant processes and equipment.
Training and Experience Required
Hold a high school diploma
Possess an Indiana Wastewater Treatment Plant Operators License or have the ability to obtain it
Maintain an Indiana Driver’s License
Have the ability to lift 50 pounds.
Have the ability to detect and differentiate colors.
