Accommodation Specialist - Responsible for managing, providing consultation and serving as the primary contact for employees and key business stakeholders during the interactive process under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

What your day would be like:

* Facilitate all aspects of the Interactive Process from beginning to conclusion.
* Evaluate workplace accommodations, including alternate job placement, for both occupational and non-occupational disabilities.
* Facilitate communication, both verbally and via written correspondence, with disabled workers, employee and labor relations, human resources, physicians, ergonomists, department managers and supervisors, and attorneys to address accommodation issues.
* Advise HR partners on state and federal regulations, APS policies, and collective bargaining agreements.
* Counsel employees exiting on issues such as Benefits, wage replacement, health insurance, and other issues to help ensure a smooth transition from the workplace.
* Maintained thorough accurate notes of all case management activity.

Minimum Requirements

* Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, HR, or other job-related field from an accredited college or university
* plus three (3) years related HR experience, preferably in case management, the interactive process, return to work programs, employee relations, and/or leaves of absence.
* In lieu of bachelor's degree, combination of college coursework and job-related experience equaling four (4) years is acceptable.
* Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to interpret and communicate ADA and other federal/state laws related to employees with disabilities.
* Ability to communicate decisions effectively both verbally and in writing, and recognize legal risk associated with certain disability issues.
* Proven experience creating, utilizing and maintaining ADA related databases and Excel spreadsheets.
* Ability to manage sensitive matters with tact and diplomacy.
* Exceptional verbal & written communications, organizational skills, superior attention to detail, ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment, strong analytical and critical thinking skills all with a strong focus on customer service.
* Strong written communication skills and ability to document effectively to satisfy regulatory requirements.

Major Accountabilities

1) Manage the interactive process for employees requesting reasonable accommodations

2) Review medical information from providers for temporary and long-term reasonable accommodations requests

3) Partner with medical providers and other third party entities to obtain additional information necessary to clarify and meet accommodation needs

4) Identify and collaborate with leadership and HR to resolve complex accommodation cases

5) Consult with employees and leadership to ensure awareness of their roles and responsibilities in the interactive process including providing required documentation

6) Educate and provide consultation to employees, leadership, and HR on all aspects of the interactive process including return to work, reasonable accommodations, and complex case management processes

7) Maintain system records to ensure accurate and timely documentation of cases

8) Develop and document standardized processes

9) Develop and maintain systems, practices and procedures necessary to facilitate tracking, reporting, and compliance obligations related to end-of-leave functions and administration, and recommend changes to policies as necessary and warranted

Flex Role:

This position is not required to be performed at a specific APS facility as long as adequate technology and a solid ergonomic set up are present. Pending agreement with leadership, employees hired into this role will be able to choose where they prefer to perform their work. Employees will have two options to choose from:

* APS office based: The employee prefers to work most of the time from an APS facility.
* Home based: The employee prefers to work most of the time from his/her home.
* Employees in Flex roles are required to reside in Arizona (or NM for Four Corners-based employees). Role types are subject to change based on business need.
