Job Responsibilities

We are looking for a Medical Technologist with a Hematology or Chemistry background, or a MLT with generalist experience. This position is for 2nd and 3rd shift opportunities. One of the best hospital systems in all of Chicago and tremendous opportunity to grow in your career as a medical laboratory professional.

As a Medical Laboratory Technician, you will be responsible for performing routine medical laboratory tests for the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease.
  • Entering in client information into computer database
  • Assigning test codes and attaching bar codes to proper specimens
  • Sorting specimens according to technical departments
  • Working in a fast-paced environment with daily goals to achieve
  • Determines normal and abnormal components of body fluids by conducting chemical analyses of blood, urine, spinal fluids, and gastric juices.
  • Analyzes blood cells by counting and identifying cells, using microscopic techniques and procedures.
  • Prepares blood, plasma, and platelets for transfusions by conducting blood group, type, and compatibility tests.
  • Ensures operation of analyzers, spectrophotometers, colorimeters, flame photometers, and other laboratory equipment by calibrating; completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs; maintaining equipment inventories; evaluating new equipment and techniques.


Medical Laboratory Technician (Lab Technician / Healthcare Research Assistant)


Requirements: Successful candidates for the Medical Laboratory Technicians should feel comfortable working with specimens and have the ability to work in a fast-paced, research/laboratory environment. Someone with the ability to work an overnight shift (11:30pm - 8:00am), with flexibility to work overtime would be a great fit for this dynamic healthcare research role.

Additional requirements of the Medical Laboratory Technician include:
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Degree in medical laboratory sciences
  • Strong data entry skills typing at least 3000 keystrokes per hour
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision while meeting specific production based goals
