Title: Structural /Transportation Department Manager
Job Type: Exempt
Location: Denver, CO

So what does a Structural /Transportation Department Manager at Michael Baker International do?
Management responsibility for the Bridge Design and Bridge Inspection; which includes a staff size of 5+engineering professionals in the Lakewood office. Technical oversight, staff development, contract management, technical and cost proposal development, project performance and client management for targeted statewide clients.

Can you walk me through a typical day of a Structural/Transportation Department Manager?

•Collaborate with the national Bridge Technical Services Manager, as well as structural engineering managers from other Michael Baker offices around the country, and will be part of a dynamic team responsible for expanding the structural engineering practice currently servicing state, county, and municipal clients.

•Project management experience with CDOT, local municipalities as well as regional DOTs; experience managing projects involving multiple disciplines such as roadway, drainage, geotechnical etc.; and experience supervising the execution, financial performance, and quality assurance of multiple simultaneous projects.

•Possess strong verbal, written, presentation and excellent client management skills; demonstrated ability leading and managing the design and detailing of complex transportation structures, with an emphasis on experience and knowledge of the design, analysis, Inspection and maintenance of highway and railroad bridges. Goal oriented, quality focused, and have demonstrated success with creating and fostering a team environment.

Could you be the Structural /Transportation Department Manager we are looking for?

•Possess B.S. degree in Civil Engineering required. Masters degree in Civil Engineering, Engineering Management, or similar degree.

•15+ years of bridge related design including 5+ years of project management experience is preferred. Ideal candidates will have extensive experience with Colorado DOT and standards.

•Experience with road and/or rail bridge rehabilitation design, seismic analysis, and rating analysis is desired. Experience with other transportation/infrastructure agencies located in the mountain region is also desired.

•Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite of products is required.

•Experience with and understanding of AASHTO LRFD design and complex structural analysis software such Midas including and CSi Bridge is required.

•Must have excellent written and verbal communications, excellent organizational skills as well as strong project management skills.

•The ideal candidate will also possess established client and colleague relationships and willingness to help lead proposal efforts.
