Responsibilities  This position will be a key contributor to the Elanco Corporate Accounting and Reporting (eCAR) team and will assist with and be responsible for many aspects within the month-end closing process and the consolidation of financial results for Elanco; Corporate consolidation activities including preparation of top-level journal vouchers, consolidation roll-ups, carve-out accounting, intercompany accounting and other special transaction accounting. This position requires interaction with other eCAR team members, Lilly CFR, Financial Planning and Analysis, GBS Accounting, Global Treasury, Corporate Tax, Corporate Manufacturing, and external auditors.

Responsibilities include: Assist in preparing the accounting and executing the corporate consolidations process and external management reporting for Elanco consolidated results; Corporate consolidation activities including consolidation roll ups; Preparation of top-level entries and carve-out accounting postings for Elanco; Troubleshooting accounting issues with affiliates; Performing audit and quality checks during the monthly close; Assistance with Intercompany accounting, including Tax restructurings; other monthly and quarterly close-related analyses such as balance sheet and OID analysis; Quarterly financial reporting activities including assistance in the preparation of SEC quarterly external report filings (10Q/10K), investor earnings release and presentations, and certain year-end reporting schedules. Additional special project work, including changes in accounting, consolidations activities, carve-out accounting, intercompany processes associated with the separate Initial public offering (IPO) of Elanco as well as preparation of the annual and quarterly SEC reporting for Elanco.

Key Objectives / Deliverables:
  1. Assist in preparing the accounting and executing the Corporate Consolidation process for Elanco
  2. Preparation of top-level journal vouchers and carve-out accounting postings
  3. Assist with preparation of intercompany accounting entries, including Tax restructurings
  4. Preparation of monthly-close SOx deliverables, including audit and quality checks (e.g., line reports, etc.)
  5. Preparation of monthly and quarterly analyses such as the Balance Sheet analysis and OID
  6. Assist in publishing Internal Consolidated Financial Statements (COR)
  7. Provide accurate and timely accounting guidance to affiliates and business partners
  8. Compilation of select financial statements and supporting footnotes and schedules for the quarterly 10-Q and annual 10-K SEC filings for Elanco
  9. Special project work including changes in accounting, consolidations activities, carve-out accounting, intercompany processes associated with the separate Initial public offering (IPO) of Elanco as well as preparation of the annual and quarterly SEC reporting for Elanco.
Corporate Closing Coordination: Ensure closing and consolidation vouchers are prepared and processed accurately and in a timely manner. Monitor Non-SAP affiliate trial balance submissions. Work with other CFR team members and learn all aspects of the Corporate financial consolidation process sufficient to share responsibilities; Review of Corporate audit and quality checks during the monthly close; Troubleshoot issues with affiliate and GBS accounting personnel, FP&A, BPKC and country/regional analysts. Assist with management reporting including the preparation of the Balance Sheet analysis and Corporate OID schedule. Pursue opportunities to streamline processes within the closing process. Provide accounting operational and technical guidance to affiliates and other corporate areas (Tax, Treasury, Manufacturing) in the form of training, policies and adequate instructions to ensure that we maintain a quality control environment, make efficient use of company resources and assure compliance with Elanco Global Accounting Policies and Practices. Understand link between external reporting and management reporting to ensure that we account for transactions properly in SAP and provide appropriate guidance to affiliates.

Top-level journal vouchers, Carve-out and Intercompany postings: Assist in development of carve-out accounting process and preparation of carve-out postings for Elanco; Prepare monthly Top level accounting entries and account reconciliations and monitor; Assist with the preparation of intercompany accounting instructions for unique and special transactions.

External Financial Reports: Prepare Consolidated Balance Sheet analysis at quarter-end and OID schedule at month-end. Assist in preparation and review of all external reporting for the Press Release, Audit Committee, Investor Relations and the filing of the SEC 10Q and 10K. Look for opportunities to streamline reporting within SAP and other systems and processes.

Elanco IPO Project: Special project work including changes in accounting, consolidations activities, carve-out accounting, intercompany processes associated with the separate Initial public offering (IPO) of Elanco as well as preparation of the annual and quarterly SEC reporting for Elanco.

Other Special Projects: maintain year-end reporting schedules for footnotes (YECI/SMR); assist with government reporting; perform SOX control reviews for JV’s and Account reconciliations; other special projects as identified throughout the year.

Basic Qualifications 
  • 2 years’ experience in Finance function or public accounting practice, preferably with in-depth knowledge of US GAAP/IFRS technical accounting
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance in line with solid accounting skills
  • CPA ,CPA Candidate or Chartered Accountant
  • Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to be employed in the United States. Lilly does not anticipate providing sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H-1B or TN status) for this employment position

Additional Information 
  • Flexibility during peak closing periods. Overtime is required during month-end closing, especially at year-end. Minimal travel.
