Training Specialist Senior - Fiber Optic Maintenance Technician Trainer

Our work depends on a Training Specialist Senior joining our team to deliver complex technical and tactical training to sailors enrolled in courses taught at Surface Combat Systems Training Command-Hampton Roads (SCSTC-HR) Norfolk, Virginia.
HOW A TRAINING SPECIALIST SENIOR WILL MAKE AN IMPACT
* Develops, organizes, and conducts training and educational programs for customer personnel in a classroom and lab environment
* Utilizes exceptional customer skills to conduct traditional classroom instruction and support technical and tactical laboratory training
* Work as a team member to identify learning gaps to train students on the repair and maintenance of Organizational Level shipboard fiber optic terminations. Navy and Coast Guard Electronics Technicians will be taught basic and intermediate fiber optic components, troubleshooting techniques, and repair of U.S. Navy shipboard fiber optic components
* Work as a team member to complete customer deadlines which may have competing/shifting priorities
* Provide subject matter expertise in support of curriculum development for SCSTC-HR courses.
* Conduct dynamic assessment of the sailors' abilities to comply with technical procedures and thereafter provide formal appraisal of performance with recommendations for improvement and methods to maintain technical proficiency
WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED:
Required Experience:
Seven (7) years of experience as a certified Fiber Optic Technician or as a 2M (Micro-Miniature) technician with a certification in Fiber Optic Termination or Fiber Optic Installation. Candidate must have been a technical manager with responsibility for teaching the applicable system or function task to others in a master level training environment. Of the seven (7) years, one (1) year of experience as an instructor in a Navy Training Environment, to include curriculum maintenance, writing learning objectives, preparing test items, evaluating instructional materials and the results of instruction and counseling students on academic learning problems is required. Must be able to support training with extended periods on your feet while instructing. BA/BS (or equivalent experience).
● Required Technical Skills: NAVSEA recognized Fiber Optic Certification
● Security Clearance Level: SECRET
● Required Skills and Abilities: Excellent communication skills and experience as a Navy instructor (NEC 805A/9502)
● Preferred Skills: Master Training/Afloat Training Specialist.

The likely salary range for this position is $68,000 - $92,000. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
