Aqua Zumba Instructor

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading non-profit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.
As an Aqua Zumba Instructor, you are responsible for creating a safe and positive atmosphere that promotes member safety and engagement in accordance with the Aqua Zumba License and YMCA policies and procedures. Individuals in this role instruct Aqua Zumba, implementing professional standards and fitness guidelines: flexibility, strength, endurance, and cardiovascular conditioning through high energy dance fitness.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and instruct water fitness classes in accordance with YMCA guidelines.
Instruct Aqua Zumba classes for a variety of skill levels.
Prepare lesson plans.
Give clear directions, cues, and demonstrations.
Create a safe and positive atmosphere.
Promote member safety and engagement.
Help others improve flexibility, strength, endurance, and cardiovascular conditioning.
Are you a good fit?
One year or more related experience preferred.
I have previous experience working with adults and diverse populations.
I am able to demonstrate water fitness skills in accordance with YMCA standards.
I am confident in the water.
I have current Lifeguard, CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, First Aid, and Oxygen certifications (preferred).
I have a current Aqua Zumba license (required).
Must be able to pass Background and Reference checks (in accordance with the WA State Fair Chance Act).
You are committed to valuing and promoting diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment.
Able and willing to complete online Child Abuse Prevention training on first day, and other online and in-person training as required.
Wage: $18.67 to $20.67 per hour, depending on experience
Hours: Part-Time, Up to 25 hours per week
Location: Tacoma Center YMCA, Tacoma, WA
