REPORTS TO: Senior Electronic Engineer



JOB SUMMARY:



Designing, prototyping, and testing electronic instruments for monitoring behavior and physiology in lab animals.



ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:



Involved in assessment of product requirements, electrical schematic design, hardware selection and validation, PCB design, firmware development and product testing and approval.



Use software to perform circuit analysis, run simulations, create schematic drawings, and create PCBs. Collaborate with engineers, other professionals, as well as clients to ensure projects are completed to

specifications.

Developing effective maintenance, testing and quality control procedures.



Observing existing processes and making recommendations for improvement. Showing initiative and keeping up with advancements in Electronics.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:



Prior experience and knowledge in electronic design. Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills. Strong analytical skills.



REQUIRED JOB QUALIFICATIONS:



Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering, similar discipline, or equivalent experience. 2 to 6 years of relevant professional experience required.



Experience with PCB layout and electrical schematic drawings.



Industrial design and/or firmware coding and testing experience a plus.



Exposure to troubleshooting electronics, sensors, and sensor systems a plus.



WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:



This position operates in an office and manufacturing setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit or stand as needed. The employee is frequently required to use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls. The employee is frequently required to walk, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, or crouch. Occasionally the employees must lift and move 40 - 50 pounds.
