Immediate need for a Maintenance Manager outside of Birmingham, AL.

Full relocation, 105-115k DOE, 15% bonus. Engineering degree reuqired

I.  PURPOSE AND DESCRIPTION OF JOB

Manage and provide leadership and resources to the Maintenance Team in order that the facility and equipment are maintained to defined specifications, operate efficiently, safely and to production plan. Ensure that budgetary constraints are met. Direct and coordinate the activities of the Maintenance Department. Provide improvements in the facility’s equipment reliability and the reduction of downtime from within the Sacramento manufacturing operation.

II. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1.  Manage the Maintenance department, ensure safety of employees and equipment, and ensure proper operation and maintenance of equipment.

2.  Manage the maintenance material budget, order materials, manage the storeroom and monitor consignment inventory.

3.  Manage the maintenance staff to ensure that plant efficiency and optimization projects are meeting schedule, budget and specifications.

4.  Safety of people, equipment and other maintenance related issues

5.  Development and career path of Maintenance Team Members.  

6.  Administer Plant Policies and Procedures within the Maintenance Department  

7. Manage time appropriately and interface with internal and external resources to prioritize and resolve maintenance issues in an efficient manner.

  1. Utilize Continuous Improvement techniques to analyze work systems and identify ways to deduce the cost requirements of the business.

  1. Other duties as assigned.

IV.  MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

The following are required to enable job holders to perform the essential functions of the job.

(a)       Skills/knowledge

  • Strong technical and problem solving skills in mechanical pneumatic electrical, thermal and hydraulic systems with 5 to 7 years experience in a manufacturing environmental.  
  •  Knowledge and experience in managing projects in a manufacturing environment.
  • In-depth knowledge and experience in pulp and paper environment, especially maintenance, process controls and information systems.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Communication skills, both written and oral
  • Time management skills

(b)       Experience/education

  • Bachelors of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field is preferred
  • 5 to 7 years’ experience in managing projects in a manufacturing environment.

3 to 7  years’ experience in a manufacturing maintenance environmental. (c)        Physical effort and dexterity

Sit, stand or walk 4 to 5 hours per day. 

Performs fine dexterity of hand movements for 2 to 3 hours per day. Performs other less physical movements for durations of 1 hour per day.

(e)       Environment and scheduling

Work environment may include high heat and humidity, cold, dust, noise, vibration, wet areas.  Normal work schedule is 40 hours per week.  Work schedule may require travel, extended work hours and/or work on holidays.
