EHS Specialist

**Summary:**

The Environmental Health & Safety Specialist is responsible for driving an effective safety culture and will establish a comprehensive safety approach throughout the division. A critical component for success in this role is the ability to influence and drive change across all levels of the organization. This position is responsible for establishing, communicating, and implementing a safety strategy that places employee safety as the top priority across the business. In addition, this role is responsible for maintaining all legal, statutory, and regulatory requirements associated with Environmental, Health, and Safety compliance. This can include interfacing with a third-party contractor who assists with required submissions on ITW Shakeproof's behalf or directly sub mitting required elements.

**Responsibilities:**

+ Acts as partner to division/plant leadership and safety teams to enable and drive a safety culture that places employee safety first.

+ Develops safety action plans collaboratively to encourage and sustain employee engagement, more robust safety processes, and improved safety results.

+ Leads effective plant Safety Committees, Emergency Response Teams, and environmental health initiatives for the division.

+ Develops, facilitates, and delivers training on EHS elements including new hire and contractor EHS orientations and onboarding.

+ Oversees accident/near miss investigation process ensuring corrective actions are identified and implemented timely.

+ Maintains OSHA 300 logs and the Safety Incident Management System.

+ Responsible for maintaining ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certifications held by the division.

+ Regularly reviews measurements of EHS performance, audit results, incidents etc. and drives continuous improvement in corrective/preventative actions and EHS processes.

+ Leads written, verbal, and electronic safety communication within the division including Accident and Near Miss Alerts.

+ Develops, maintains, and ensures effectiveness of EHS procedures, JSA's, and assessment processes.

+ Responsible for ensuring internal and external audits are scheduled, completed, and actions resolved.

+ Drives behavioral observations/interventions to assist in hazard reduction and cultural progress.

+ Supports and oversees safety stand downs, safety walks, hazard hunts, and safety recognition efforts.

+ Ensures complete and timely submittal of required EHS reports from all sites within the division.

+ Performs other duties as assigned.

• Bachelor's Degree in EHS or other related discipline and/or comparable work experience

• 3 years' experience driving EHS within a manufacturing environment

• ASP certification or seeking ASP certification, CSP certification a plus

• Broad knowledge of OSHA regulatory guidelines, incident investigation methodologies, and root cause analyses

• Ability to demonstrate effective leadership, organization, problem-solving and education of others

• Ability to work well in a cross functional environment

• Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office

• ISO 14001, ISO 18001, and ISO 45001experience preferred but not required
