PURCHASING AND LOGISTICS MANAGER

Responsible for overseeing purchasing and logistics operations at a leading food manufacturer located in Jeffersontown, KY
This role ensures a streamlined procurement process, manages supplier relationships, and optimizes inbound and outbound logistics
The Purchasing and Logistics Manager reports directly to the CEO and collaborates closely with senior leadership.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
  • Develops and executes a cost-effective purchasing strategy to support uninterrupted production schedules.
  • Negotiates with vendors and suppliers to secure competitive pricing and maintain high-quality standards for all inputs.
  • Monitors and maintains accurate records of open orders and input specifications in QuickBooks (Desktop version).
  • Collaborates with the Senior QA Manager to ensure all inputs meet SQF (Safe Quality Food) standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Manages the approved vendor register, ensuring all criteria are updated annually.
  • Stays informed about market conditions, pricing trends, and competitor strategies in purchasing and logistics.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Management, Economics, or a related field preferred.
  • 7 to 10 years of experience in purchasing and logistics within the food manufacturing industry preferred.
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks Desktop and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong analytical and mathematical abilities with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively in a dynamic environment and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Professional demeanor with a proactive and collaborative approach.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Works primarily in a standard office setting with regular visits to production, warehousing, and shipping environments.
  • Must have average or normal hearing abilities.
  • Capable of operating office equipment and performing repetitive motions involving wrists, hands, and fingers.
  • Average visual acuity required for document preparation and computer use.
  • Occasionally lifts and moves objects weighing up to 30 pounds.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Office and food manufacturing plant environment.
  • Some travel required to vendor facilities for Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) or audits.
