Headquartered in New Orleans, Louisiana, International-Matex Tank Terminals (IMTT) is an industry leader in the handling and storage of bulk liquid products through its ownership and operation of 19 terminals throughout North America. The terminals handle petroleum, biofuels, commodity/specialty chemicals, and vegetable/tropical oil products for customers including refiners, commodities traders and chemical manufacturers and distributers.
This position is located in Joliet, IL.
1.0 OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES
1.1 Safe and effective security of the IMTT-Illinois Joliet facility and grounds.
1.2 Maintain compliance with applicable state and federal security regulations and standards.
1.3 Ensure proper scheduling is done when attendance cannot be made.
1.4 Security officers must wear company issued uniforms and steel toed work boots in addition to any required personal protective equipment (PPE).
1.5 Minimize negative impacts to the environment in all areas of operation.
1.6 Continuous improvement in all areas pertaining to your job which include quality, health, safety and environmental.
1.7 Assist the facility in satisfying customer’s contractual requirements and IMTT operational requirements.
2.0 BASIC DUTIES
2.1 Knowledge of plant safety, security policies and procedures.
2.2 Implements and supports security initiatives and measures throughout the facility.
2.3 Prepare and maintain accurate log forms and reports.
2.4 Document all incoming and outgoing traffic from the facility.
2.5 Report and respond to security incidents according to the procedure.
2.6 Comply with facility access control requirements in compliance with the Facility Security Plan and all applicable policies and procedures; this includes but is not limited to: checking and verifying identification; denying unauthorized access; screen and search vehicles and personnel in accordance with applicable state, federal and IMTT policies regulations, policies and procedures and contacting the pertinent employee prior to allowing entrance by visitors, vendors or contractors for authorization.
2.7 Perform facility patrols, both vehicle and foot patrols as directed by the Security Supervisor or the Facility Security Officer (FSO).
2.8 Monitor physical security within the facility.
2.9 Follow emergency protocols in cases of emergency.
2.10 Direct traffic as assigned.
2.11 Must be able to bend, stoop and reach.
2.12 Have manual dexterity to efficiently operate a computer keyboard, telephone and other business devices.
2.13 Must possess a valid Driver’s License and valid TWIC Card.
2.14 The ability to walk up and down steps; up to 25 steps per hour (typical max 150 vehicles per day, max search 100% of vehicles, 2 steps up and 2 steps down from guard house).
2.15 Be able to walk 1/4 mile in 5 minutes for completion of efficient patrols.
2.16 Provide line-of-sight or physical escorting of non-TWIC carrying visitors to the plant.
3.0 LINES OF COMMUNICATION
Reports directly to the Security Foreman and the Security Supervisor and indirectly to the FSO.

4.1 The educational requirements for the Security Guard are a High School Diploma or a G.E.D.
4.2 Essential job functions, abilities and/or responsibilities are listed below.
A. Minimum of 18 years of age and a United States citizen.
B. Possess a high level of integrity and trust.
C. The ability to read, write and understand the English language.
D. The ability to see (20/20) and hear either naturally or through the use of corrective lenses or hearing aids.
E. Able to walk on uneven surfaces, including gravel, dirt and rocks during foot patrols.
F. Able to stand and/or walk for extended periods of time (up to 12 hours per day) in the guardhouse and during foot patrols.
G. The ability to work outside in all weather, (i.e. rain, snow, sleet, wind, heat, cold, humidity, etc.) for extended periods of time.
H. The ability to pass a drug and alcohol test.
I. Flexibility in work schedule (work schedule may rotate between shifts and days) and excellent attendance record.
J. Ability to meet and deal with the public; which includes truck drivers, employees, contractors, visitors and vendors.
K. The ability to maintain self control, make sound decisions and be able to react quickly under stressful conditions.
L. The ability to accept and respond to verbal and written instructions and decisions.
M. Have good computer skills to be able to use and send e-mails and do basic word processing.
The Security Officer is preferred to have security related experience.
4.4 Training needed for the Security Guard.
A. Training done as employee progresses through the new employee orientation.
B. On the job training by the Security Supervisor or other qualified guard.
C. Security training as required by the Facility Security Officer (FSO).
D. Safety training as required by the H&S Manager.
E. Environmental training as required by the Environmental Manager.
