TITLE: Director of Sales and Events

DEPARTMENT: Office - Hotel Domestique

REPORTS TO: General Manager

Located at the base of the stunning Blue Ridge Mountains near Greenville, SC, Hotel Domestique features 13 uniquely designed rooms that blend rustic architecture with modern furnishings. Our onsite restaurant, Restaurant 17, is celebrated for its innovative use of local ingredients, sourced almost entirely from nearby farms and streams, to create exceptional regional cuisine. Founded in 2013 by world-renowned cyclist George Hincapie and his brother Rich Hincapie, our mission has always been to deliver world-class cycling experiences, classic Italian and Mediterranean cuisine, diverse events, and unforgettable stays that feel like home.

Rooted in the French term for "servant," domestique refers to cyclists like George Hincapie who support their team and work tirelessly to propel it forward. SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Lead the Sales and Events team to deliver exceptional guest experiences, ensuring each interaction exceeds expectations.
  • Develop and implement strategic sales plans to achieve business goals and enhance revenue.
  • Oversee all service steps from sales to client proposals, contracts, bookings, correspondence, operations, and final billing.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors, including wedding planners, musicians, and photographers.
  • Prepare and present comprehensive daily, weekly, and monthly departmental reports to the General Manager.
  • Create and update Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) and ensure all departmental managers are informed of event changes.
  • Stay informed about market trends, promotions, rates, and property descriptions to maintain competitive advantage.
  • Drive sales initiatives, including off-property networking, local business outreach, and innovative in-house event ideas.
  • Ensure proper maintenance, operation, and training of all departmental systems like Roomkey PMS, Heartland POS, TripleSeat, AllSeated, and more.
  • Manage room blocks and events in Roomkey PMS, ensuring optimal utilization.
  • Communicate consistently with the GM and department heads about operations and guest concerns.
  • Collaborate with the Food and Beverage Director and Executive Chef on catering orders and timelines.
  • Engage with leadership team for forensic analysis of events highlighting successes and opportunities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the General Manager.
  • Work 30 to 50 hours a week with a varying schedule.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Eligibility to work in the United States
  • At least 21 years of age
  • Minimum five years of experience in hospitality and/or events, with at least two years in a leadership role
  • Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or a related field preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Ability to work with diverse colleagues and guests
  • Ability to take and give direction
  • Neat, courteous, flexible, and detail-oriented
  • Ability to remain calm and professional in demanding situations
  • Initiative in job performance, anticipating needs before they arise
  • Ability to meet deadlines
  • Flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays

ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Know who to notify for broken equipment or unsafe conditions.
  • Lift and carry up to 45 pounds between knee and shoulders.
  • Perform repetitive fine manipulation with both hands.
  • Work varied schedules, including early mornings, evenings, late nights, weekends, holidays, and split-shifts.
  • Handle hazards like stress, lifting injuries, slips, and tripping.
  • Stand and move up and down stairs for six or more hours without breaks.
