Job Description

Director of Plant Operations/Support Services

Under the general supervision of the Chief Executive Officer, this position is responsible for managing and organizing the operations of the healthcare facility including maintenance, dietary, and housekeeping services while maintaining compliance with all applicable codes and standards of government and regulatory agencies. This is a hands-on management position spending a significant amount of time interacting directly with employees and assisting in task completion.    

 Essential Job Duties:

  • Develops, maintains, and reviews all departmental and regulatory policies and procedures and all regulatory (Plant Operations) manuals.

  • Knowledgeable of NFPA codes and standards, Joint Commission and CMS standards, OSHA, EPA and state and local codes and standards.

  • Maintains all required regulatory and testing documentation including but not limited to: Fire Safety Equipment; Generators; Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing (MEP) systems; Hazardous Waste Pick-up and Disposal; Fire Drills; Emergency Preparedness (Exercises and Actual Events); Medical Equipment

  • Keeps all required permits, licenses, and certificates of operation up to date at all times.

  • Maintains an acceptable preventive maintenance program with compliant completion rates. Manages an acceptable corrective and elective maintenance program to comply with all regulatory requirements.

  • Effectively manages relationships with hospital leadership and cooperates with hospital objectives. Manages financial performance and budgets to operate an efficient department. Manages contracted vendors and staff for a proper balance giving the best value for dollars spent. Completes monthly variance reports and forecasts in a timely manner.

  • Manages utility costs and consistently tracks utility consumption to assure efficient operations.

  • Effectively manages long range capital infrastructure replacements.

  • Responds in a timely manner to audits and reports from corporate regional facility managers. Participates in corporate initiatives and trainings.

  • Interviews, hires, develops, counsels, disciplines, and terminates staff as necessary, following all hospital human resources policies.

  • Serves as Safety Officer, to ensure hospital buildings and equipment are in safe operating condition with no risk to the patients, public and hospital employees.

Education:                    High School graduate or equivalency required. Trade vocational school related to facility maintenance and engineering or Bachelor’s degree preferred

Experience:                  Two (2) years supervisory responsibility of a like sized facility. Experience

                                     in all aspects of building trades preferred including HVAC,

                                     mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and carpentry.

Skills:                            Good oral and written communication skills. Intermediate level computer skills, utilizes Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, PPT, Outlook. Must have driving

                                      record that meets La Amistad Behavioral Health Services policy.

Physical Requirements: Heavy demand. Walking, standing, bending and lifting, pushing and pulling

 objects in excess of fifty (50) pounds          

Other:                             Must be familiar with the use of hand and power tools and precision measuring

La Amistad Behavioral Health Services’ Adolescent Residential Treatment Program, for adolescents ages 13 to 17, is a comprehensive program to re-establish healthy adolescent behavior while developing a successful transition back into the family, home, school and community. This program program based out of our facility in Central FL, is designed to deal with adolescent behavioral health issues and educational needs. We place emphasis on helping the adolescent identify their emotions and correct the actions that have created problems. Through this discovery process, adolescents learn to accept responsibility for their behavior and develop healthy modes of interaction with others. A behavioral program and level system reinforce positive feedback and encouragement for progress.
