Overview

SMBC Capital Markets is an interest rates derivatives trading company based in New York City, with offices in London and Hong Kong. We are a subsidiary of Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC), one of the leading global banks in Japan.Our Capital Markets business is an established derivatives dealer with a broad product portfolio, with specific emphasis on interest rates and foreign exchange. We have been in operation for more than 30 years and is a leading market-maker in several markets.

Our SMBC Capital Markets Credit Group is looking for a Credit Analyst Intern to assist with the group's daily activities encompassing counterparty credit risk management, credit control and reporting.

The position will be up to 12 months on a part-time basis of around 20 hours/week.

Responsibilities

The Credit Analyst Intern will support full-time staff with the following tasks:

* Support Credit Specialists with preparing daily, monthly and quarterly counterparty exposure reports along with other credit risk exposure reports
* In conjunction with Risks Specialist, responsible for maintenance and integrity of credit risk limits and terms
* Liase with various groups within Capital Markets for the quick resolution of credit exposure related issues
* Utilize firm's proprietary transaction management system to manage derivative and non-derivative trading lines
* Other credit risk database maintenance, filing and ad-hoc tasks as assigned

Qualifications

* Current senior (final) year college student in a Bachelor's or Master's Degree program with a major in Finance / Business, Accounting or Economics, or related area
* Interest in financial markets highly desired
* Strong Excel skills
* Python and PowerBI
* Combination of academic aptitude, quantitative skills, and strategic and creative thinking
* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
* Ability to work well in a team-oriented environment
* Ability to manage multiple complex tasks while delivering high quality and timely results
* Good time management and organizational skills
* Takes initiative, self-motivated and resourceful
