Job Description

We are seeking a Senior Business Analyst to be a key individual contributor to both the Finance and Operations teams by providing dedicated financial process and system improvement support for an organization that manages up to ~$600M/year in capital expenditures and ~$70M/year in drydock expense. This position will focus on Ship Operations financial management process improvement/efficiency and system implementations/integrations. This position will be expected to
  • Understand the intersect between financial processes and operational behaviour, acting as a lead liaison between Finance and Operations
  • Understand end to end process and create process maps to identify inefficiencies and improvement opportunities across spectrum of financial planning
  • Driving improvement initiatives and be a change agent for the organization
  • Aggregate, cleanse and analyze large, disparate data sets; standardize data to leverage in interactive dashboard reporting to highlight key performance indicators
  • Develop areas of automation around reporting and other data flows that will support transparency, efficiency and self-service reporting
  • Identify key insights and prepare presentations for senior-level management
  • Train and develop finance and operations team members to new processes/systems.
Upon joining, the senior analyst will jump onto two ongoing projects, a system implementation and dry dock planning process improvement project.

The system implementation project consists of establishing efficient processes as we introduce a new capital planning tool as well as supporting the implementation team as needed.

The process improvement project will consist of developing a long term & short-term dry dock financial planning and management process for dry dock budgets and work package integration. This requires the analyst to establish regular business routines to encourage participation from the disparate business owners, who historically have not been very attentive to managing these budgets. This role will establish a regular reporting process for capex and opex spend against budgets to business owners to drive decision making. As such, this person is responsible for liaising with various CCL project managers/directors and business owners (VP/SVP level).

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Liaise with I/T and Operations to develop/improve processes and technology to drive efficiencies in the organization
  • Develop and support automation in reporting
  • Training / development of new processes and systems to finance team and internal key stakeholders
  • Provide ad-hoc support to ongoing finance team initiatives to implement new processes, reporting, tools, or systems
  • Assist in developing finance and business presentations for senior management outlining annual planning processes and key changes to shipboard capital planning, long term asset planning and dry dock investment packages
  • Support shipboard and Shoreside budgeting and forecasting process for Shipboard Operations capital expenditures and overall capital plan, providing direction and guidance to project managers and business owners
  • Schedule routine planning and budget review meetings with business owners
  • Hold business owners accountable for establishing well-planned and efficient budgets, and track status against the original plan
  • Less than 25% with shipboard travel likely
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in either Industrial Engineering or other Engineering, Finance or Business, Operations Research or Supply Chain
  • Six Sigma Green Belt, or other Process Improvement / Business Process Management certification preferred (or related experience)
  • 2-5 years of experience with a track record of driving results in business analysis, process improvement, or finance
  • Prior maritime, operational finance or supply chain experience/knowledge preferred but not required
  • Proficiency with financial statement analysis
  • Strong process improvement, data mining/reporting activities, and analytical skills
  • Experience in a professional environment with proven exposure to a variety of technologies and processes
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, Sharepoint, Power Automate, PowerBI, etc.)), with particular emphasis on data management in excel and creation of regular financial reporting packages
  • Working knowledge of Tableau
  • Understanding of Oracle Financial Systems, Hyperion Interactive Reporting and Hyperion Essbase or similar system not required, but extremely useful
  • Basic understanding of asset management
  • Master's Degree in engineering, finance, statistics or related field; Six Sigma Green Belt, or other Process Improvement / Business Process Management certification preferred
  • Previous cruise, travel/leisure, hospitality or transportation industry experience preferred
  • Strong of project management & process improvement skills, preferably, in a marine or construction context
  • Have the intellectual curiosity to seek out new areas of potential improvement actively and drill into the details to find the root cause of problems
  • Understanding of financial management for large scale programs with multiple distinct budget managers
  • Demonstrated ability to influence others and interact with all levels of the organization - Ability to develop effective working relationships independently and garner engagement from various departments, senior levels, and brands
  • Strong written and verbal communication, organizational and analytical skills, excellent interpersonal skills
  • Strong command of financial and operational metrics to evaluate business
  • Must be able to critically think, problem-solve, research and perform root cause analysis under ambiguity, conceptual thinker with strong analytical skills including experience using statistical analysis to drive business decision-making process
  • Past experience with Microsoft Powerpoint and creating action-oriented presentations
  • Very proficient with analytical software, especially Microsoft Excel
  • Proficient in data visualization tool (Tableau, Power BI)
  • Well organized and can prioritize multiple requests simultaneously
  • Can work with little supervision

The range for this role's base salary is $60,600 - $90,000. Offers to selected candidates will be made on a fair and equitable basis, taking into account specific job-related skills and experience.
