Facilitates hospital-wide drug distribution system, including inpatient and outpatient prescriptions, maintains all appropriate records for controlled substances and drug inventory, and processes all charges and credits for patient and employee drug transactions.
Follows established policies, procedures and objectives to ensure patient safety standards are met and confidential information is protected.
Enters, sets up, and checks medication orders, per departmental procedures.
Fills daily cart runs lists and delivers requested drugs to patient care areas and replenishes stock meds in patient care areas.
Breaks down bulk deliveries to unit dose system.
Maintains and verifies completeness, accuracy and confidentiality of patient profiles, to include outpatient records.
Maintains record system required to assure complete and accurate controlled substance files and records.
Maintains pharmacy inventory by sending and receiving of orders and removing outdated medications.
Monitors cost of medications and supplies being ordered.
Processes charges accurately for inpatient and outpatient transactions.
Maintains a clean and well organized work area at all times.
Assists pharmacist in preparing sterile intravenous admixtures.
Maintains confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
Support the culture of service excellence throughout the organization.

Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
Completes annual educational requirements.

Minimum Education High School Diploma or GED
Preferred: Pharmacy Technician Certification OR Pharmacy Technician Certification required within one year of hire date.

Minimum Work Experience Institutional pharmacy experience of 2 years Preferred: Previous experience as an LPN or Desk Clerk in a healthcare setting Previous experience in a commercial Pharmacy
