If you are good at planning and directing all accounting operational functions, handling the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluating accounting and internal control systems, and leading departmental staff, this role might be right for you. Based in the Ames, Iowa area, this opening for a Controller is a full-time position. Responsibilities - Evaluate, implement and streamline policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies - Research, plan and implement Finance Department initiatives including software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, as needed - Present monthly financial reports to executive committee and partners - Drive the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques to ensure the timely cash collection - Capable of handling responsibilities beyond formal job duties - Perform tasks associated with month-end and year-end close of income statement and balance sheet, account reconciliations G/L analysis - Manage the production of the yearly budget and forecasts and monitor them monthly - Review and revise deliverables of self and team to ensure that they meet client expectations - Lead the operations of the finance department which includes accounts payable, billings collections, and payroll - Work closely with executive team and partners to facilitate efficient and effective firm-wide operation - Prepare cash-flow reports, projecting cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals, daily cash management

Job Requirements

- Self-starter, ability to identify issues and resolve problems - Ability and willingness to meet business critical deadlines - Financial reconciliation experience - Financial analysis experience - Financial reporting experience - Knowledge of Sage Timberline - Construction project accounting experience - Progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred - BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field - Accounting experience in publicly-traded company a plus - Skilled in the construction and delivery of effective presentations to audiences with wide-ranging backgrounds - Strong communication and interpersonal skills - Strong attention to detail - Ability to work in a dynamic and changing environment - Outstanding technology, analytics and management experience required - Advanced credentials such as a Masters of Business Administration / MBA or Certified Public Accountant / CPA are preferred - Remarkable analytical, quantitative and social skills
