Most of your designs will be unique, and you may work on several projects at one time in a dynamic, challenging, and even fun environment.  This position will provide you with an exciting opportunity to develop and manage drawing packages and 3D models of structural projects as part of a multi-discipline team of professionals. We are looking for a structural drafter who will work to ensure client satisfaction and help deliver key structural projects within scope, budget, and schedule. You should be a self-motivated individual with at least 0 to 2 years of drafting experience and be willing to learn multiple drafting software packages.
In this role, the Structural Drafter will work closely under the direction of the Lead Designer and Structural Engineer. This role is responsible for preparing detailed construction drawings for steel and reinforced concrete structures using structural specifications, engineering calculations, sketches, and design information according to project standards and procedures.
This position requires direct communication and coordination with other disciplines such as mechanical, electrical, piping and project team members to ensure a complete and timely production of drawing packages, spreadsheets, and databases to document information related to the design. The drafter will become familiar with work processes for the office and the department.

  1. Due to federal requirements for portions of the assigned work US Citizenship is required.
  2. Requires certification of two (2) years training from a vocational school or two (2) years college with courses relevant to drafting or engineering principles plus a minimum of 0 to 2 years of experience. Must have working knowledge of CAE/CAD systems.
  3. Must be able to demonstrate good leadership, organization, planning, communication, and problem-solving capability.
  4. Requires working knowledge in the use of drafting equipment and in the application of drafting principles (descriptive geometry, lettering, dimensioning, layout, detail, etc.).  A general working knowledge of shop and field erection processes associated with structural design is a plus.
  5. Work knowledge of producing structural design and layouts is a plus (i.e. steel, concrete, beams, columns, framing plans, elevations, steel ducting, stiffeners, and connection details.)
  6. Requires working knowledge of AutoCad and/or other drafting software listed below. Working knowledge of 3D modeling and producing 2D construction drawings from the model is highly desirable (using software such as Revit, Inventor, Creo or other related software).
  7. Able to produce drawings that adequately depicts the design, are clear, concise, as free from errors as possible, and meet the job standards and specifications.

1. Performs basic drafting responsibilities with limited assignments in support of projects. 
2. Prepares clear, accurate drawings of simple, easily visualized components from detailed sketches and/or written notes.
3. Copies finished drawings and makes simple revisions from detailed instructions.
4. Assists with field work associated with drawing assignment, such as field measurement and simple sketches.
5. Assists more senior drafters/designers in the acquisition of required data/information, maintenance of files and supplies, and operation of related drafting room equipment.
6. Assist in the preparation of bills of materials requirement lists.
7. Performs other related duties as required.
