Job Description

Director of Engineering Position:

Manages and directs the organization toward its primary technological objectives, based on long-term product and profitability goals, by performing the following duties personally or through use of engineering resources, both internal and external.


• Establishes current and long-range objectives, plans, and policies, subject to approval by VP, Operations

• Creates a technical vision for the company and plans for implementation of the new engineering projects.

• Dispenses advice, guidance, direction, and authorization to carry out major plans procedures, consistent with established policies

• Works with product development, sales, and marketing to discern competitiveness of new technologies

• Reviews operating results of the organization, compares them to established objectives, and takes steps to ensure that appropriate measures are taken to correct unsatisfactory results

• Creates capital budgets, allocates resources, and determines schedule of process and equipment releases or project deadlines

• Plans and directs all investigations and negotiations pertaining to engineering aspects of mergers, joint ventures, acquisition of businesses, or sales of major assets

• Establishes and maintains an effective system of communications throughout the organization

• Analyzes new technologies and runs competitive analyses

• Represents the organization with major customers, shareholders, and the public


• Engineering Degree required

• Master's degree (M.A.) in engineering or business preferred or the equivalent; or ten years related experienced and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

• Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.

• Ability to respond to common inquires or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community

• Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations

• Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of the test reliability and validity, analysis

• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret and extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables
