Through our partnerships with MIT, Harvard and the Harvard teaching hospitals we've become the "hub" of cutting edge science in the Boston biomedical community.

We are seeking a Principal User Experience Designer to help design genomic research tools and lead other designers. Our aim is not just to provide tools to allow for a deeper understanding of the genomic impacts of disease, but to use design to make those tools as easy to use and as desirable as possible. Discover how your talents can change lives.

  • Uncover team challenges and drive solutions.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders, product managers, developers, and senior UX'ers to define and implement innovative solutions to complex design challenges
  • Work closely with the development team to iterate as the design is implemented
  • Conduct user research
You bring many of the following skills and experiences:
  • Experience leading and managing UX designers
  • Able to demonstrate examples of user interaction design and speak to tangible results
  • Proficiency in wireframing and prototyping tools
  • Thrives in iterative process and comfortable experimenting with imperfect information
  • Collaborative, flexible, attentive to detail, willing to own the work
  • Communication that is clear, evocative, and empathic, both verbally and visually. Can articulate the value of design solutions to various stakeholders
  • Curiosity to learn in an extremely complex domain space
Bonus points:
  • Experience in healthcare, life sciences, scientific research, including clinical and genomic, or big data
  • Experience working in an agile design/development process

Life at The Broad:

Besides a great benefit package, meaningful and flexible work, and extraordinary culture, you will get to work with passionate people to clear the way for scientists to do groundbreaking research. We are a small, but growing UX team made up of some experienced practitioners. Joining our team will give you access to mentorship and growth as a designer. We work closely together and value each other's input.

We are fully focused on equality and believe deeply in diversity of race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, ethnicity, national origin and all the other fascinating characteristics that make us different.

All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability or protected veteran status.
