Sealaska Technical Services (STS) is a critical subcontractor on the N3B Los Alamos LLC team and will be providing program management and technical services in support of the ground & surface water monitoring program at the U.S. Department of Energy’s Los Alamos National Laboratory.

STS is currently seeking an experienced Mechanical or Process Engineer with 5-15 years of experience for immediate employment. Applicants should be a Registered Professional Engineer, New Mexico license preferred, experienced in water remediation system design and operation.
The successful applicant will become a member of our Los Alamos project team providing program management and technical services in support of the groundwater and surface water remediation program at the U.S. Department of Energy’s Los Alamos National Laboratory. The Process Engineer is expected to lead engineering design and compliance monitoring activities associated with groundwater and surface water remediation, prepare design and permitting documents, and support engineering and construction in a team-oriented project environment.

The project’s mission is to safely and efficiently complete the cleanup of legacy contamination and waste resulting from nuclear weapons development and government-sponsored nuclear research at the Los Alamos National Laboratory site.
Los Alamos, New Mexico is a scenic mountain town located 30 miles northwest of Santa Fe, built on mesa tops, with 360-degree views of canyons, mountains, forests and the New Mexico sky. Once part of the top-secret World War II Manhattan Project, the Los Alamos National Laboratory site has a rich history. - Lead engineering design for remediation activities including preparation of system flow diagrams, process mass balances, and Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)
- Prepare feasibility studies, design and implementation of pilot studies, development of construction and operation and maintenance cost estimates
- Plan and implement field investigations
- Conduct remedial alternatives analysis
- Conduct treatability studies
- Oversee project budget and costs-benefit analyses
- Carry out site work including verification sampling, set up and commissioning of treatment systems
- Conduct technical and sampling audits
- Provide construction support including design changes and completion reports for each project
- Maintain engineering configuration control of design documents
- Support safety and quality audits and findings to confirm construction compliance and permit compliance
- Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical, Chemical or Environmental Engineering from an accredited college or university.
- 5-15 years’ experience; however, a combination of education and relevant experience is acceptable.
- Registered Professional Engineer or expectation to receive registration within 6 months.
- Experience with remediation feasibility studies, remediation system designs, construction and/or operation and maintenance
- Familiarity or experience with the U.S. Department of Energy work environment is preferred but not mandatory
- The qualified candidate may be required to attain and maintain a DOE “Q” security clearance (must be a U.S. Citizen)
- Individual must pass a pre-employment drug screen
- This position may require a physical fit-for-duty screen
