R&D Electrical Engineer
Summary:
Meta is seeking an Electrical Engineer experienced in the design and operations of critical facilities to become part of our Technical Strategy R&D team. Our data centers are the foundation upon which our software operates with efficient ease. Building and operating data centers the "right" way from the day they go live is synonymous with ensuring capacity availability and capital conservatism. The Technical Strategy R&D team endeavors to be the benchmark of innovation for the data center industry and improve reliability, safety and efficiency through innovative solutions, enabling Infrastructure teams to excel in achieving their goals.
Required Skills:
R&D Electrical Engineer Responsibilities:
Develop concepts for new data center infrastructure solutions focused on electrical systems and building management technologies to improve reliability, efficiency, speed to market and cost
Lead proof of concept projects, prototypes and pilot deployments to evaluate the technical benefits and feasibility of various electrical solutions for broader deployment within data center environment
Cross-functional collaboration with other Meta teams including Hardware Engineering, Network Engineering, Automations and Controls, Construction, and Facilities Operations
Develop strong industry relationships with data center peers, vendors, academic, and government organizations to remain current on industry trends while influencing technology development
Ability to travel internationally to data center sites and meetings with vendors and industry partners
Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering
10+ years professional experience in electrical critical systems design, construction, operations, and maintenance
Research & Development experience including concept, design, modeling, prototyping, and testing
Cross-discipline experience of complete mission critical facility systems: power distribution, generators, UPS, PDU, high voltage substation design, medium voltage distribution systems, and automations & controls systems
Experience in industry standards, building codes and safety standards including NEC, ASHRAE, NETA, ANSI, IEEE, NFPA, UL, UFC and UBC
Experience with international standards including IEC, CE, and EN
Troubleshooting and analytical experience
Effective presentation and communication experience

Advanced degree in Electrical Engineering
Professional Engineer registration
Experience designing DC power systems
Experience within the data center technology stack: computer, network, storage, and software architectures
Design and operation experience with large and complex data centers, including campus systems
Experience with construction processes and cost estimating methodologies
Experience in the design, development, and manufacturing processes as applied to electrical equipment
Public Compensation:
$167,000/year to $230,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
