The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
Position Summary
Serve as expert on the Electronic Medical Record (EMR). Provide all front-line technology-related-end user support for Columbia Health Clinical Divisions. Set-up and configure hardware, and diagnose and repair system/software issues. Update systems, internal and external, as well as configure reports, templates, and other user tools. Investigate, resolve, and document help desk requests on hardware, software, and network issues. Provide overall user support by installing network application software, granting access to uses, creating user groups, managing shared resources, and installing peripherals.
Responsibilities
* Independently perform troubleshooting, maintenance, repair, and installation activities. Assemble and install computer equipment. Set-up and configure hardware, install and up-grade software, and configure network settings on user workstation, create user groups, and manage shared resources. Provide support for hardware, peripherals, and network access. Provide support for clinical and office productivity applications and other relevant software as assigned. Coordinate and maintain a log of help desk request activities. Assist in the developing and maintaining of problem management procedures and documentation. Work in close coordination with the Clinical Health Systems Analyst to provide expertise in isolating and solving problems within applicant systems and interface. May assist with identifying cost-effective solutions for new and existing software and hardware needs. (30%)
* Serve as system expert on the EMR. Plays a key role in maintenance and enhancement of EMR and ancillary applications; provide technical expertise including interface with other internal CU and external systems. Monitor and resolve issues including feeds from Student Information System (SIS), referral files to student health insurance carrier, laboratory accessions and results, resolving duplicate medical record numbers, etc. (20%)
* Perform required administrative and maintenance procedures on departmental databases and other applications running on designated software. Execute applicable preventative measures for network or workstation problems; ensure system is ready for the days work, examine system logs for errors or potential problems. Find and correct patterns of errors. Correct selection and implementation methodology of daily tasks should strive to proactively prevent system wide downtimes. (20%)
* Design flexible, customizable reports with user-friendly interfaces as per the specifications of Clinical Division management. Works closely with Clinical Division and Columbia Health management on reporting of EMR activity, both recurring and ad hoc. (15%)
* Work with Clinical Division management to establish new users, update templates, and schedules. Collaborate with Health Information Technology staff to plan and implement projects and service requests. (15%)
* Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
* Requires a Bachelor's degree in computer science, health informatics, information technology, management information systems, or closely related.
* Minimum of two (2) years' related experience.
* Experience with electronic medical record systems and database management.
* Experience with installation, configuration and troubleshooting processes for software, hardware, networking, and accessory equipment.
* Strong end-user support skills and ability to interface with different levels of staff.
* Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
* Experience developing and delivering training, including materials and other written support documents.
Preferred Qualifications
* Masters degree in computer science, health informatics, information technology, management information systems, or closed related.
* Project management experience.
* Ability to translate complex IT concepts and business needs into action.
* HIPAA certification.
* Previous experience in higher education.
* Masters degree in computer science, health informatics, information technology, management information systems, or closed related.
* Project management experience.
