SUNY Broome Community College is a comprehensive community college located in the scenic Southern Tier of New York, the college has approximately 10,000 students annually, and serves over 4,000 full-time and nearly 3,000 part-time students per semester in Liberal Arts, Business & Public Services, Health Sciences, and STEM, programs. An additional 10,000 students are served through the college's community education and non-credit programs.
SUNY Broome Community College has a temporary, full-time appointment as an Assistant Professor/Instructor available Spring, 2020 in the Medical Assisting & Health Studies Department. Assistant Professor requires a Master's degree in Education, Health Care or related field with either three years teaching experience or an appropriate combination of teaching and relevant work experience in the educational and/or health care setting. Additional graduate coursework in an appropriate field desirable. Instructor requires a minimum of a Bachelor's degree in a health care related field and a Credential of a Certified Medical Assistant. Work experience in area appropriate to the teaching field strongly preferred.
The successful applicant will also be required to participate with fellow faculty members in assisting the programs to maintain accreditation and regulatory compliance. Preference given for applicants with experience advising and mentoring students with developing career and educational goals.
Prior teaching, especially in a community college environment, is preferred. Preference given for demonstrated commitment to the student–centered community college philosophy, familiarity with the use of technology in the classroom, online teaching experience or a willingness to learn, excellent interpersonal and team-building skills, leadership potential, and willingness to work collaboratively in a collegial setting within the academic division. The program course schedule may include day, evening, weekend, or summer courses. Salary range is $49,432 to $61,790 for Assistant Professor; range for Instructor is $45,182 to $56,478. Salary offer will be based on qualifications. Offers of employment will be conditional based upon the results of a satisfactory, required pre-employment Standard Background Check.
