Derived Salary: $61K - $88K/Year

AUDIO-VISUAL TECHNICIAN ON-CALL

OVERVIEW: This position assists SAM Audiovisual Managers with equipment set up, operation, and support for SAM programming at all three museum locations (Olympic Sculpture Park, Asian Art Museum, and Seattle Art Museum Downtown).

FLSA STATUS: Non-exempt REPORTS TO: Audio-Visual Managers

COMPENSATION: $45 per hour

BENEFITS: Temporary and on-call employees are able to enroll in our company’s 403b plan. Employees will also accrue sick leave at a rate of .0385 per hour worked. Additional benefits include access to fitness facility, discounts at museum shop and store, and two SAM guest passes.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Operate audiovisual equipment in projection booths for lectures, conferences and performances including hybrid, in-person, and virtual events through Zoom and streaming to Facebook or YouTube.
  2. Set up, operate, and strike audiovisual equipment in event spaces for live music, weddings, meetings, social functions, presentations, corporate events.
  3. Record events, presentations, lectures as needed in Auditorium spaces.
  4. Operate and troubleshoot video switching systems (Barco, BlackMagic, etc.) using multiple screens/projectors.

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  1. 3-5 years of experience in live event AV in a corporate or hospitality setting.
  2. CTS certification, Associates AV Degree, or equivalent experience in projection, video switching, live sound reinforcement, and computing.
  3. Digital and Analogue AV systems and signal processing knowledge required. Strong customer service skills with an ability to be flexible in accommodating last-minute changes or requests.
  4. Understanding of signal flow and proficiency in troubleshooting basic and complex AV systems.
  5. Knowledge of Microsoft and Apple software and operating systems; PowerPoint, Keynote, Zoom, Streaming Services, etc.
  6. Capable of multitasking with little or no supervision. Must be on time, dependable, and maintain a professional image in appearance and attitude.
  7. Ability to handle stress and pressure associated with high visibility major events.
  8. Ability to work with close attention to detail and to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
  9. Physically capable of handling job requirements (bending, stooping, heavy lifting; 50+ pounds).

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Exposure: Work areas are primarily inside, in a climate-controlled environment with light background noise. Work is occasionally performed at other indoor and outdoor sites.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES REQUIRED FOR ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Stationary Work: Approximately 40% of time is spent stationary while working at a desk or operating audio/lighting consoles. Balance of time (approximately 60%) is spent moving around the work area to set up and strike AV equipment. Occasional extended periods of standing may be required when assisting at Museum events.

Communication: Clear and effective communication with volunteers, donors, members, the public, and co-workers is necessary.

Moving: The ability to move up to fifty pounds is necessary for moving speakers, AV equipment, and supplies.

Office Work: Ability to effectively and regularly operate a computer, keyboard, and other office productivity machinery, such as copy machines and printers, and ability to inspect, prepare and use paperwork, files, equipment, and supplies is necessary.
