The Position The Manufacturing Engineer-Electrical position will provide technical assistance to support all manufacturing departments insuring the continuation of safe, economical, quality insured, and lean production operations.     Location Grand Island, NE   Responsibilities
  • Support all manufacturing departments by providing technical assistance regarding the quality and/or performance of machinery, electrical systems, sensors, gauges, data collection, etc.
  • Develop, justify, and lead engineering projects to deliver cost reductions, quality improvements, and new product development initiatives.
  • Responsible to work with vendors, suppliers, Maintenance, and internal customers to ensure projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget.
  • Work with all manufacturing departments and Lean Manufacturing data to analyze, brainstorm, evaluate, and improve plant equipment capabilities through PLC program changes, robotics, electronic sensors, and electrical system troubleshooting.
  • Engage Corporate Engineering and IT to lead or support projects involving product design changes, material changes, and manufacturing process changes to ensure manufacturability and validate product quality.
  • Evaluate plant systems for utilities, environmental control, and fire suppression to ensure safety, compliance, and efficiencies are met.
  • Travel by airplane and/or drive rental or company automobile to all company facilities, vendors, or seminars and expositions, as needed.
  • Guide and work with Maintenance Team Members to troubleshoot electrical issues on both manufacturing and plant utility equipment.
  • Work with IT to develop robust plant information and data gathering systems.
  • Operate a personal computer and be able to work as required within the plant ERP system to automatically extract data for use in the plant manufacturing equipment.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
Qualifications
  • Experience with PLC programming (current Allen Bradley experience preferred), PID loop tuning, electrical troubleshooting, wiring diagrams, and electrical panel design/build.
  • Microsoft Word, Excel, Access or SQL databases.
  • Knowledge/experience with automated assembly, robotics, g-code, software development, and database management preferred.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instruction in mathematical or diagram form.
Education
  • Bachelor Degree in an Engineering discipline or an Associate Degree in Electronics, Software Development, or related field plus a 4-year degree.
