Job Description

Grant Thornton is seeking a Data Analytics Manager to join its Strategy service line in Salt Lake City, Utah, and take an active role in engagement execution, project management and key business development activities.

Please Note\: This role is located in Salt Lake City, UT.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES\:
  • Project responsibilities will include management and support over the implementation of a business intelligence program at a local Salt Lake City client.
  • Other project types may include, but are not limited to, business intelligence and data analytics, project and program management, technology system implementation, independent validation and verification, grants management and more
  • Management of engagements with state and local government clients in the Salt Lake City area.
  • Use advanced business analysis and appropriate analytic tools to support the development and presentation of results through visualization and scenario generators.
  • Work with and within cross-functional teams to identify appropriate business solutions to client challenges.
  • Lead meetings with client stakeholders.
  • Identify and develop new service offerings and solutions that can be brought to market.
  • Supervise and train associates throughout the engagement lifecycle and assess the performance of staff for engagement reviews.
  • Provide coaching and mentorship in the field of analytics, including when to use certain techniques, method application, quality assurance (including code reviews as needed)
  • Maintain good working relationships with clients to enhance customer satisfaction and work with client management and staff to perform engagement services.
  • Assist with business development activities, such as proposals, capture, whitepapers, and/or other thought leadership materials.
  • Perform engagement management responsibilities, including performance reviews, task delegation, project scheduling, project financials, quality review and client management.
  • Meet or exceed sales targets for new and follow-on work.
  • Manage business development activities, such as proposals, capture, account teams, whitepapers, conferences, and/or other thought leadership materials.
  • Meet or exceed targeted billing hours (utilization).
  • Act as performance manager (coach) for up to four coachees outside of engagement responsibilities.
  • Interview campus and/or experienced candidates.

Job Requirements

  • Experience managing analytic projects and supervising small teams.
  • Project and program management experience.
  • Ideal candidate will have familiarity and / or experience working with business intelligence / data management concepts (ex\: data governance, data organization and cleansing, extract transform and load (ETL), report building, automation, etc.) and technologies (ex\: SQL, Oracle, Socrata, Tableau, FME, R, Javascript, etc.)
  • Bachelor’s Degree required from an accredited college or university in a related field.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain certain job-related certifications if no job-related advanced degrees.
  • U.S. citizenship may be required. Ability to work in the United States indefinitely required.
  • Travel may be required.
  • Coach and mentor junior staff members.
  • Ability to work overtime required on occasion.
  • Ability to sit in an office environment for long periods of time.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
  • Ability to communicate clearly in writing and verbally.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain firm independence and abide by firm ethics requirements.
  • Meet or exceed continuing professional education (CPE) requirements.
