Louis Berger Services, Inc. (LBS) is seeking a full-time Deputy Project Manager. The Deputy Project Manager serves in a critical leadership role in the project management team supporting the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT). This position is located in Miami, FL.
*This position is contingent upon award of contract.*
Develops, implements and leads the project’s structures maintenance program to include but not limited to periodic inspection, consultant inspection coordination, routine maintenance and managing the FDOT bridge work order program.
Assists the Project Manager with the overall completion of the project and ensures services are delivered on time, under budget and in accordance with quality and safety standards. Serves as the Project Manager when the Project Manager is unavailable.
Ownership and implementation of the company safety program to include updating the project safety plan, conducting safety training, regulatory compliance, and promoting the overall safe operation and culture of the company.
Development of asset specific monthly, quarterly and annual maintenance work plans.
Ensures all bridge work orders are completed on time and in compliance with DOT requirements.
Perform quality control inspections on structure repairs from Feasible Action Review Committee (FARC) issued work orders and review process and documents to ensure compliance with required procedure for timely close out.
Assists with the day-to-day oversight of the company’s maintenance operations to include resource allocation, activity scheduling, workload prioritization, issue resolution, customer service, and FDOT client interface.
Oversight of personnel and subcontractors in the performance of operations and maintenance activities.
Ensures transportation assets are maintained in a condition that is compliant with the FDOT maintenance rating program (MRP) requirements. Perform monthly field MRP inspections and compile results for project review and action.
Ensures company services and work products are delivered in compliance with the FDOT standards and specifications, and reporting requirements.
Keep current and accurate records to comply with the District Quality Assurance Review (QAR) stipulations and requirements, and assist Project Manager with documentation and compilations for inspection by the FDOT.
Review and inspect documentation required for customer service, incident response, herbicide application, scheduled asset inspection reports, monthly work reports, and any requested documents or reports prior to submittal to FDOT.
Compile documentation and reports for Quality Assurance Manager’s review and approval. Maintain project database with current information required to produce accurate reports to the client.
Understand and abide by ethical behavior and integrity standards, per Louis Berger’s Code of Business Conduct.
Performs other duties as assigned by the Project Manager.
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management or related field. A master’s degree in business administration or engineering is a plus and a Professional Engineer (PE) license is strongly preferred.
Fifteen (15) years of progressive experience in transportation maintenance, engineering, or construction role. Experience in a state or local transportation agency or private toll authority preferred, DOT a plus.
Five (5) years of demonstrated experience with engineering, construction, operations or maintenance of bridges and structures.
Experience as an organizational leader with successful track record of leading teams in the performance of operations and maintenance activities.
Experience and familiarity with field operations and construction/maintenance equipment and vehicles. Experience performing road and bridge construction or maintenance highly preferred.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, bilingual in Spanish a plus.
Basic understanding of Microsoft Office Suite and common software applications.
