Architectural Testing, Inc. seeks Senior Acoustical Consultant to write and execute acoustical testing protocols. Perform reviews of architectural, structural, mechanical, plumbing and electrical drawings, specifications, shop drawings and submittals pertaining to the acoustical design of multi-family residential, corporate office space, higher education and retail projects. Perform forensic investigation and litigation support on building and construction projects with acoustical concerns. Develop innovative approaches to analyses and recommendations to advance and expand company’s acoustical consulting services. Write or revise specifications for acoustical products and performance goals for projects. Develop graphic details to convey visual feedback for stakeholders. Follow and enforce safety requirements and company policies. Assist in national and international business development, marketing, and sales efforts regarding acoustical testing and consulting services. Prepare proposals and develop new business. Utilize modeling software to study interior or exterior sound propagation. Develop acoustical related remedial work recommendations to assist with repairing, modifying or upgrading existing buildings. Prepare complete acoustical construction document sets with Building Science staff for new and renovation projects. Prepare accurate and concise reports for the acoustical design of various building projects with clients, designers, contractors and coworkers. Communicate with clients, designers, contractors and coworkers. Observe progress and provide feedback in field observation reports to the clients. Work on project planning, scheduling, staffing, execution, and reporting. Monitor projects, colleagues and budgets. Monitor contract requirements, invoicing, and maintain acceptable profit margins. Collaborate with the team of professionals as part of company’s rapidly growing Building Sciences Group. Participate in training of acoustical and building science staff to assist on acoustical consulting projects. Research new opportunities or processes for performing company’s services or learn new skills. Provide consistent and professional interaction and communication with clients and project team. Achieve operational objectives by contributing information and recommendations to strategic plans and reviews. Prepare and complete action plans for external or internal activities. Implement productivity, quality, and customer-service standards. Resolve problems whether with external or internal activities. Identify trends and changes in the industry that the company should be aware of or react to. Determine improvements to systems, processes or operational inefficiencies. Implement change within external or internal activities to improve company’s staff, processes or outcomes. Assist the office in meeting financial objectives by forecasting requirements. Work with computer acoustical modeling and creating auralizations of architectural conditions to allow people to hear the spaces company’s clients are designing. Develop schedules for expenditures, analyze variances, and where necessary initiate corrective actions. Work with test methods and standards. Read and understand architectural drawings and specifications. Work with Microsoft Office Suite and AutoCAD.

MINIMUM EDUCATION: Master’s degree in Acoustics, Acoustical Engineering, or Physics with focus on acoustical studies.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: 2 years of acoustics consulting experience working with acoustical analyses, recommendations, testing, measurements, and construction observations, computer acoustical modeling and creating auralizations of architectural conditions to allow people to hear the designed spaces, within a consulting firm or with a firm that works with architects on the acoustics of buildings; with at least 2 years of experience working with ASTM E336, ASTM E966 and ASTM E1007 standards, and Odeon or CATT software.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: Up to 5% domestic travel is required.
