VP, Creative Director

Truth Initiative Washington, DC (On Site) Full-Time
The VP, Creative Director will be truth’s creative visionary, bringing to life the aesthetic direction of the truth brand, as well as overseeing the design layout and visual impact of marketing materials, products or publications. They will lead truth’s in-house creative group and production studio – truth lab -- by inspiring a team of copywriters, designers, producers, operations managers and freelancers. They will be a partner to our external agencies, guiding their creative development and evaluating their work. They will act as brand steward, partnering with internal peers and external agencies to set visual and voice guidelines, and create the strategy for how truth will show up in culture. They will collaborate with the Marketing, Communications, and CAYE teams to envision and produce messages and deliverables in all formats including web, social, digital and print.

  • Be the strategic and visionary thought leader in developing and producing campaigns and materials across web, social, print, and digital collateral. Review and approve art and copy developed by the team, ensuring deliverables effectively achieve goals.
  • Supervise a team of graphic designers, copywriters, creative operations and production managers, and freelancers in the strategic development of messages and deliverables. Ensure the team is balanced and full of energy, deadlines are being met, creative feel they have the resources they need, and workload is appropriately distributed.
  • Work with executives and other creative leaders to set project deadlines and content goals. Spearhead and manage content for both small-scale and large-scale projects, harnessing strategy, digital and brand design, compelling content, and technology
  • Oversee production of social and video content; acquisition campaigns; digital audio and radio ads; email marketing campaigns; site landing pages; and SMS campaigns, working with external agencies where appropriate to drive tens of millions of engagements and views to support the national broadcast campaign.
  • Bring fresh ideas to truth by analyzing market trends, consumer need, new platforms, and the competitive landscape
  • Prioritize work and resources across engagements based on short- and long-term needs, establishing production schedules by collaborating with designers, copywriters, and production departments
  • Manage Creative budget within annual targets.
  • The ideal candidate should have Fine Arts or Bachelor’s degree plus 10+ years of related experience, with 5+ years of creative direction in agency or corporate/manufacturer/brand setting.
  • Strategic and inspirational leader who has managed a creative team and worked with external agencies to keep them motivated and delivering big ideas.
  • Ideas person with a strong creative vision and an understanding of how to deliver against business objectives. Natural eye for design and a drive to inspire dynamic ideas that connect with all types of audiences. Passion for all things digital.
  • Experience creating integrated content across all marketing channels from digital, social media, paid media, mobile, but also understand offline and print
  • Self-directed and capable of working in a fast-paced environment
  • The ability to work independently and efficiently on concurrent projects and with internal staff and outside partners/vendors
