The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is organized, energetic and has a fair and unbiased vision on management. Nursing Supervisors should be able to care for residents as outlined in a charge nurse job description. Candidates should be dedicated to staying informed on state, federal, nursing and OSHA regulations as well as all company policies and procedures. Candidates should be able to maintain a working relationship with residents, family members and staff. Applicants be able to effectively motivate, train and supervise staff. Supervisors should be comfortable with employee remediation and using discretion to handle various situations within the facility. You must be able to work with various departments and personalities. This position will report to the Director of Nursing and by applying for the position you recognize that nothing in this job description restricts management's right to assign or reassign duties or responsibilities to this job at any time. You may be asked to help in other areas of the building as needed for the optimal performance of your building/department and the well-being of our residents.

Essential Job Functions:

As a Nursing Supervisor in a Grace Management Service facility you must be able to perform the following essential functions.

* Follows established standards of nursing practices and implements facility policies and procedures.
* Interpret existing policies and procedures to nursing assistants, restorative personnel, residents, families and physicians.
* Supervises and evaluates all direct resident care and initiates corrective action as necessary.
* Make frequent rounds in the facility monitoring meal time and assisting in Dining Room and on the halls as necessary
* Function as a direct charge nurse at times and or as needed.
* Identify resident problems and emergency situations and initiates an immediate plan of action according to nursing home policies and procedures.
* Assist with evening admissions in collaboration with the charge nurses in the facility.
* Provide clinical supervision of nursing assistants and charge nurses responsible for providing direct resident care.
* Assist with covering staffing and making calls to cover any call offs
* Participate in the employee evaluation process by providing information on the clinical performance of nursing assistants to the D.O.N. or designee.
* Assist with the interviewing and hiring of nursing assistants and charge nurses as needed
* Complete report for facility committees as assigned, active member of the Interdisciplinary Team
* Administer and document comprehensive assessment of each resident as needed and or as assigned.
* Assist with the development of an accurate and comprehensive care plan based on the resident's needs.
* Hours will generally be Monday through Friday with participation in the on-call rotation with the other nurse managers.
* The on-call rotation will consist of taking call to triage and calls/concerns from the building and assist as needed with staffing coverage.
* Notify physician, when necessary, of changes in residents' conditions, weight, medication errors, medication not available, abnormal lab/x-ray results and any other unusual observations.
* Document resident care provided and resident's response or lack of response to care provided.
* Personally obtain continuing education relating to the long term care field of nursing.
* Supervise response to residents' calls for assistance.
* Follow facility discharge/transfer procedure and coordinates discharge/transfer with other departments, physicians and ancillary service providers.

Job Qualifications

* Registered nurse in state of Ohio/Indiana OOPNES, NAPNES
* All candidates must be proficient in basic computer programs and must be able to correspond timely through e-mail or other forms of technical communication as needed to successfully complete the requirements for this job. Employees are required to complete monthly on-line education courses to keep our team members knowledgeable on the latest information and regulations. * Sit or stand for extended periods of time
* Reach above shoulder heights, below waist or lift as required to complete the job responsibilities
* Proper lifting techniques, ability to read computer screens and the ability to follow written and verbal instructions are required
* Must be able to lift 50 to 75 pounds. Raising objects from lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position to position. This requirement occurs to a considerable degree and requires the substantial use of the upper extremities and back muscles.
* Must be able to balance, climb, crouch, grasp, kneel, pull, push, reach, stand and stoop adequately to perform the essential functions of the job.
* Must be able to hear, smell, feel and speak adequately to perform the essential functions of the job.
* Must be able to read and write the English language.
* Must be able to work inside and outside with exposure to outdoor weather conditions.
