Pediatric Cardiology Consult \n

Job Summary \n

The Advanced Practice Provider, Cardiology Consult will be working with a multidisciplinary team within the UT Southwestern Pediatric Critical Care/Cardiology division at Children's Hospital in Dallas to provide comprehensive care to pediatric patients on our inpatient pediatric cardiac intensive care unit. These patients present with a wide variety of congenital and acquired heart disease. This position will require a high degree of critical thinking and clinical expertise in working with pediatric patients in the cardiac intensive care unit. The APP is responsible for the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, management, education, consultation, and health promotion and care coordination for patients and their families.

Scheduled Hours: 12-hour variable shifts (including nights and weekends)

Experience and Education

\n

•         Master's degree or higher in nursing, documentation of completion of accredited Advanced Practice Education Program. Graduate education and related Texas Board of Nursing authorization must be consistent with clinical practice area and patient population.

\n

•         Acute Care Certification required OR

\n

•         Graduate of a Master's degree or higher Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) accredited Physician Assistant program.

\n

•         One (1) year of pediatric cardiology experience preferred.

\n

Licensure/Certification

\n

•         Licensure as Advanced Practice Registered Nurse by Texas State Board of Nursing. Authorization for prescriptive authority by the Texas Board of Nursing. OR

\n

•         Licensed by the Texas Physician Assistant Board. AND

\n

•         Current Basic Life Support (BLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certified by the American Heart Association or Red Cross based on the UT Southwestern policy for Advanced Practice Providers.

\n
