Job Summary:

The Section 508 Product Manager will be responsible for managing, monitoring, and ensuring corporate conformance with Section 508 and other accessibility standards for both existing products and new products and projects. The Product Manager will be a champion for accessible technology and documents, and promote awareness of Section 508 and access to training, tools, and resources that enable Navitus to deliver products that supports the needs of end users. The Product Manager will oversee day-to-day activities to ensure that the relevant products are appropriately accessible and align with other Navitus standards. The Product Manager is the "voice of the accessibility" and leads the process of promoting, maintaining and improving the relevant products, and contributes to the development of new ones. The individual must work with cross-functional teams to design, build and roll-out products that deliver the company's vision and in support of the strategic plan.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a subject matter expert for accessibility and finding solutions to achieve accessibility
  • Assist in assessing and enhancing the maturity of the Navitus accessibility/508 program
  • Lead Section 508 conformance in a way designed to foster team work and maintain an outstanding customer service culture, including internal customers
  • Develop and continually improve documentation, strategies, objectives and policies for the assigned products/programs, and establish and monitor accessibility standards to support audits, client proposals, accessibility statements and certifications.
  • Manage conformance of products and projects through requirements development, user stories, alignment with WCAG standards, scoping and budgeting through the product or project life cycle.
  • Develop a keen understanding of Navitus products to which accessibility guidelines apply to expand product offerings, refine current product positioning and ensure comprehensive documentation of conformance success.
  • Establish tracking procedures to document agency successes and remediation efforts for Section 508 compliance
  • Assure appropriate testing has been conducted by staff for any system/app enhancement or break-fix and manage and maintain documentation of testing.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge of accessibility requirement by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
  • Analyze implementation and enhancement progress including roadmap development, prioritization, time schedules, resourcing, and milestones with engineering and manufacturing Assist in the analysis of product capacity and capabilities for managing new clients
  • Assure new products meet and have measurable quality standards from concept phase through post launch.
  • Communicate to key cross-functional areas about product executions, impacts, constraints, and value in a timely and effective manner.
  • Execute departmental strategic initiatives in support of the corporate strategic plan.
  • Develop customer and employee education for new and existing product initiatives
  • Ability to work effectively in a culturally diverse work group.
  • Ensure products meet applicable regulatory requirements.

A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree is preferred. Experience in the fields related to accessibility, compliance, or member experience are preferred.


  • Minimum 3 years product management/development or related experience is required.
  • Experience working with business analysts and cross-functional teams
  • Experience with assistive technologies and tools/software to validate accessibility
  • Experience leading development and implementation of products and projects
  • Proven record of creating meaningful training, documentation and other communicative materials to convey the processes and achievement of an accessibility program
  • Demonstrated organizational skills
  • Emerging leadership skills
  • Experience with core software applications, including Microsoft Word and Excel and Nuance/Adobe required; Microsoft PowerPoint and Visio preferred
