Responsible for the fiscal analysis and ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), and Sarbanes–Oxley Act of 2002.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist in the fiscal processes within company to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), and Sarbanes–Oxley Act of 2002.
Collaborate with leadership to enhance workflow, solve business needs, and properly steward the business.
Partner with key leaders to set financial and strategic direction for the assigned business function/unit.
Serve as the key participate in the annual budget and quarterly forecast process for the assigned business function/unit.
Work closely with key leaders to populate, analyze, justify and publish the budget and forecast.
Partner with Corporate Accounting in the monthly accounting close including preparing any needed account analysis, journal entries, and accounting treatment such as accruals, prepaids, amortizations, coding of expense vs capital, etc. for the assigned business function/unit.
Instigate analysis of spends, returns of investments, trends, and metrics for the assigned business function/unit.
Provide both written and verbal P&L variance explanations during the close, post close, and as periodically requested.
Publish monthly P&L, variance explanations, and other needed performance reports and participate in the recurring calls to review/discuss.
Assist in the disbursements originating from the assigned business function/unit.
Identify any needed accounting procedures, workflows, models, and/or systems to improve the financial process.
Analyze, educate, and recommend changes to accounting operations policies and procedures.
Participate in special projects, ad hoc information gathering, and/or reporting requests from leadership.
Establish and maintain an effective system for maintaining accounting files and records.
Assist in any internal or external audits.
Perform other duties as required by supervisor.
Skills/Abilities and Knowledge
Must be a self-starter and results oriented with strong accounting and financial skills.
Ability to make decisions and solve problems while working under pressure.
Ability to prioritize and organize efficiently.
Excellent analytical, problem solving, multi-tasking, and interpersonal skills.
Strong attention to detail is required.
Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
Ability to communicate orally and in writing in a clear and straightforward manner to all levels of management and company personnel.
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
Ability to use personal computer and knowledge of Microsoft applications (proficient in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance from four-year college or university; or equivalent training, education, and experience.
Related Work Experience Number of Years
3-5 years of accounting experience or demonstrated proficiency in the required skills
Skills/Abilities and Knowledge
Knowledge of cable television and/or advertising/media.
Experience with and JD Edwards, Oracle Essbase, SAP Ariba, and OnBase.
Experience in developing databases.
