Waste water treatment technician at one of Covanta’s newest locations in Oriskany , New York.

Duties to include sampling of both tankers and containerized non-hazardous waste. Unloading of bulk liquid tankers. Waste water treatment in batch reactors. Ideal candidate will have some college level chemistry, or was very strong in High school Chemistry. Looking for individual to mentor waste water treatment, and the waste oil recovery business. Facility has strong growth potential and will be expanding its’ current site plan. Future plans for shredding, solidification and waste to energy disposal.

Position Requirements

Key Responsibilities, deliverables and expectations:

Safety – strong proven safety background

Compliance – understand State & Federal waste regulations

Proficient with windows computers and ability to operate a atomic absorption spectroscopy machine

Ability to work overtime as needed

Cleans, adjusts, maintains waste water and oil treatment equipment

Education: minimum education required High School Diploma / GED. Prefer candidate with Science degree A.S. or B.S.

Experience: Commensurate with education, 1-3 years’ experience or Science related degree

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Waste water treatment knowledge

Basic to advanced Chemistry knowledge

Certifications :


Forklift certification

Other Requirements:

Must be able to work Monday – Friday day shift. Ability to lift 50 lbs., stand for extended periods of time.
