The Pre-Admission Testing/Ambulatory Surgery Registered Nurse promotes and restores patients’ health by completing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care for patients scheduled for invasive procedures based upon age specific and cultural needs.
Essential Functions
Begins development of a perioperative plan of care including specimen collection, pre-op tests ordered the day of procedure as well as other medical care treatments.
Completes thorough pre-operative admission assessment. Documents patient interventions. Administered medications as ordered.
Review pre-op charts. Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care. Communicates with anesthesia, surgeons to assure patients are at optimal state prior to surgery.
Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family pre-operative education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
Provides Phase II recovery.

Minimum Education
Graduate of an accredited professional nursing program
Preferred Education
BSN
License(s) Required Upon Hire
Valid registered nurse license in State of Arizona
or
Valid multistate license from a recognized compact state acceptable to Arizona
Certifications Required Upon Hire:
Basic Life Support (BLS) American Heart Association
**If employee has ACLS, BLS is NOT required
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
**Required only if employee assists in PACU
Required SkillsRequires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
