NOTE: This single vacancy is posted in more than one grade level and appropriate grade and salary will be determined based on education and/or experience. This is a Remote position and selected candidate must reside either in the New Albany, OH OR Corpus Christi, TX, geographical area. *Onsite reporting will take place when needed.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsible to the assigned supervisor for performing complex electrical engineering work activities and projects requiring the application of engineering knowledge in a safe, effective, efficient and economic accomplishment of assigned objectives. One must have an ELECTRIAL ENGINEERING ABET ACCREDITED DEGREE PROGRAM ONLY.

This position supports the Applications for Energy Delivery Operations. In this group the candidate will be responsible real time support of applications. The group is also in charge of research & development of new technologies. Working with affiliated organizations such as EPRI, CIGRE and IEEE to develop papers and publish to widespread audiences.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  1. Perform power systems analysis to support Transmission Operations EMS (Energy Management System) Advanced Applications group to support the development of EMS applications that include State Estimator, Power Flow Analysis, Contingency Analysis and Outage Scheduler.
  2. Analyze state estimation and power flow data and automate processes.
  3. Perform modeling of various power system devices, including transmission lines, power transformers and generators. Also incur in new technologies such as inverter based generation, battery storage and STATCOMS.
  4. Analyze Phasorpoint Measurement Unit data and provide empirical solutions to complex transient issues. Experience querying databases is a must.
  5. Perform network model equivalency analysis of the electrical system using network application software, including Alstom, Siemens, OSI Monarch, and ABB.
  6. Query Databases and use Python script or SQL Server to provide reports and develop application functions. Improve GUI for operator and engineer day to day use.
  7. Apply numerical analysis techniques for solving large scale non-linear equations.
  8. Provide clear verbal and written explanations of studies and findings to other engineers, system operators, support staff, and various level of management.
  9. Participate in a 24 hour on call rotation to support EDOPS Real Time Operations.
Additional requirements:
  • Power system analysis, including steady state, contingency and real-time data analyses.
  • Performing pre and post N-1 contingency analysis and monitoring outage distribution factors for lines using either EMS or PSSE tool.
  • Using Siemens, GE EMS or OSI Monarch to perform actual and post-contingency high/low voltage analysis.
  • Ensuring real-time reliability of EMS network application.
  • Using PI Historian application to extract and organize historical data.
  • Using SQL Server, Oracle, Perl, C, C++, C#, and .NET technologies.
  • Expert level knowledge of programming languages, particularly Python.
  • Experience working with Phasorpoint applications.
  • Linear state estimation experience.
  • Candidate must possess high/expert level knowledge on EMS Solution applications, power system applications, transient monitoring and programming.
