Job Description

POSITION      Master Production Scheduling Manager

Reports to:    Performance Center Director

POSITION SUMMARY: The Master Production Scheduling Manager plays a key role at Ducommun and is responsible for developing and managing best practices for future Demand, Inventory, Supply, and Capacity Planning. The Master Production Scheduling Manager is tasked with helping in the implementation of a standardized planning process and plays a key role in driving the supply schedule to answer to customer demand opportunities.  The Master Production Scheduling Manager (in collaborating with Sales, Purchasing, Manufacturing, and Finance) builds a balanced and achievable plan of production that answers the demand potential to deliver the highest level of customer fulfillment with efficient and timely usage of inventory.  This role reports to the performance center director and is crucial to the success of Ducommun’s vision “To be our customers’ #1 provider of innovative electronics and structures solutions.”

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for coordinating a consensus long term demand forecast, maintaining a master schedule, and assisting in the daily production schedules along with driving adherence to the appropriate planning horizons.

  • Develops and/or maintains the plant(s) capacity model inputs and outputs by routinely updating routings and requirements estimates based on demonstrated output standards and estimates of new capacity conditions.

  • Ensures capacity is level loaded based on available capacity to optimally cover demand; includes the coordination of all new product introductions, end of life close-outs, and plant(s) labor schedules

  • Configures demand planning and reporting systems to identify alerts and exceptions within the forecasts and sales orders.

  • Conducts various gap and post mortem analyses between actual and forecasts, identifying key drivers for discussion in a future state S&OP demand consensus agenda.

  • Sets inventory policies for raw material, work in process, and finished goods (as necessary) and takes the lead on driving slow moving/obsolete stock action plans.

  • Ensures inventory levels are appropriately reserved where safety stock positions are beneficial to overall performance (service level and working capital holding cost)

  • Establishes and maintains an available-to-promise lead time to sales and program management that considers current and future anticipated backlog or over capacity conditions into committed quote and orders.

  • Develops metrics to measure manufacturing performance to schedules (lead time, schedule attainment, and schedule adherence) and works with Manufacturing to resolve issues in a timely manner.

  • Provides inventory projections and proactively identifies service level issues.  Translates data and analysis into succinct actions, impacts and recommendations.

  • Supervises, coaches, mentors, and develops the production scheduling team

Skills & Qualifications

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s Degree in supply chain operations, materials management, logistics or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • APICS or equivalent Supply Chain certification preferred.

 

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum 7+ years of proven Supply Chain and Planning experience in a similar role.

  • Strong understanding of and experience with demand management principals and processes coupled with end-to-end supply chain operational processes.

  • Demonstrated knowledge and proficiency in statistics, forecasting and forecasting methods with an understanding of the financial and operational impacts.

  • Experience introducing/working with supply chain solutions, software and systems is beneficial.

  • Hands on experience with ERP systems.

  • Strong working knowledge of LEAN manufacturing principles.

  • Ability to work in a team oriented environment that is fast paced and demanding.

  • Demonstrated ability to influence in cross-functional situations.

  • Keen analytical skills, advanced Excel, Tableau, and/or Power BI experience and proficiency.

  • Strong ability to handle multiple demands with a sense of urgency, drive and energy.

  • Track record of developing and implementing change which positively impacts company performance.

  • Strong interpersonal skills to work cross-functionally with internal and external teams.

  • Attention to detail, ability to prioritize and multitask.

  • High level of integrity and dedication, a positive work attitude and strong work ethic
