Candidate will support the United States Coast Guard (USCG) Ship Design Team (SDT). A week in the life of a Human Factors Engineer: * Plans all phases of laboratory and field studies as required to satisfy customer needs. * Mastery of a wide range of quantitative, qualitative, analytical, and evaluative methods of systems analysis to assess human performance, cognitive workload, GUI usability and interaction, ergonomics, and requirements verification. * Conducts evaluations from inception to completion, including the identification of facilities, measurement methods, subjects, collection and analysis of data, and documentation of results. * Accurately documents the results of these evaluations in well-crafted reports, Coast Guard letters, memos, briefings, or demonstrations aimed at increased operational effectiveness by recommending design alternatives and trade-offs, or suggesting additional study efforts.
