Job Purpose:

Under supervision of the Deputy Director of Management Operations and Program Supervisor III, of Fusion the Intelligence Analyst I position is responsible for assisting Guarded Exchange investigators in providing their intelligence to the Texas Department of Criminal Justice; ensuring that the intelligence is accurate and reported in a timely manner.



Responsibilities

Essential Duties:

The following duties are typical for this classification. Incumbents may not perform all of the listed duties and/or may be required to perform additional or different duties from those set forth be/aw to address business needs and changing business practices.

  • Complete all agency directed requests.
  • Security Bulletins.
  • Have the ability to complete CRIME TIPS reports.
  • Validates 'Suspicion' and 'Reasonable Suspicion' from quantifiable knowledge escalated from Communication Analysts
  • Compiling, assist in collecting analyzing information regarding victims, and persons suspected of violating statutes, policies and/or procedures, or program requirements administered by the assigned agency.
  • Assist in collecting, Compiles, and analyzes information related to suspected cases of or improper or unlawful activities including but not limited to; resulting in the diversion of controlled drugs, assault or any other bodily harm (physical or sexual), weapons location, cell phone location, escape, and Suicide.
  • Immediate notification to TDCJ to include but not limited to eminent danger, child abuse, elderly Abuse, kidnapping, staff involvement with offenders, staff misconduct, and ANY staff sexual contact.
  • Collects, assembles, and preserves facts, and prepares detailed reports of investigative findings, assessments and intelligence to TDCJ staff.
  • Utilizes database for entering, updating, and tracking investigations
  • Exercises independence in performance of responsibilities; receives general administrative direction.
  • Work with TDCJ staff to determine trends.
  • Performs other related work as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

The following generally describes the knowledge and ability required to enter the job and/or be learned within a short period of time in order to successfully perform the assigned duties.

Knowledge of:

  • Basic knowledge of computer equipment.
  • Office procedures, methods, and equipment including computers and applicable software applications such as word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.

Ability to:

  • Read, understand, and review documents for accuracy and relevant information.
  • Use sound judgment in following and applying appropriate laws, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Compose correspondence and compile and arrange data in a readable and comprehensible manner.
  • Research files and prepare basic statistical reports and analyses.
  • Proofread and edit draft reports or correspondence for errors in grammar or structure.
  • Deal successfully with TDCJ staff, in person and over the telephone.
  • Understand and follow instructions.
  • Operate office equipment including computers and supporting word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
  • Type and enter data at a speed necessary for successful job performance.
  • Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
  • Ability to develop, implement, administer, and evaluate a training program.
  • Ability to interpret laws, policies, and procedures.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to prepare clear and concise reports and review the reports of another staff.
  • Ability to analyze and evaluate policies and procedures and formulate recommendations.

  • Strong typing and organizing skills.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree is required. Each year of experience as described below in excess of the required 2 years may be substituted for 30 semester hours from an accredited college or university or a year for year basis.
  • Experience conducting administrative/criminal investigations.
  • 2+ years' experience as a combination of a Communication Analyst or an Investigative Analyst I.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Spanish speaking, writing, and reading

Physical Requirements:

Standing, sitting, walking, speaking, listening, bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping and manipulating tools, typing, using peripheral computer tools.  May be required to lift up to 25 pounds.
